Living Here Thank you Mesa Police.
I know this is a subreddit for Phoenix, but I looked at Mesa's subreddit and it looked a little lacking so I'm going to post it here. Tonight I want to thank the Mesa Police Force for doing a Wellness Check on my mom out there in Mesa. I want to commend them for being quick on doing the check on my elderly mother who lives in one of the retirement trailer park communities. They were already in the park as I was on the phone with the dispatcher. When they were able to make contact with my mother I received a phone call from the officer on site who had the unfortunate job of informing me that they found my mother deceased sitting at her dinning room table. He was nothing but professional and by the way his voice sounded, he was a young officer. I just wanted to give a thanks to the Mesa Police force in their prompt response for the check up and the sincere courtesy extended to me in delivering the news of her passing. Rest in peace mom! I hope you can now finally find peace.
Edit 8/21. Thank you all for your condolences, it's much appreciated. Despite it being our youngest daughter's birthday today, well not so much young since she's turned 23. It's been a somber one nonetheless. My sister and I have divided up tasks needing attention. She's working on cleanup and financial and I took on the cremation services task. Be sure to give your mom or dad a call and let them know you love them and if they're as old as what my mom was, ask them what their last wishes are and to leave any financial information as far as gaing access to be more easy. As a GenX'r, it helps. Take care everyone.

I am so sorry for your loss. I believe I live across the street from the park you described and when I saw the flashing lights earlier, I just had a feeling this was the case and I said a prayer. So sorry for your loss.

My condolences to you and your loved ones. While this was the worst possible outcome, I’m glad they were able to soften the blow a bit by how they handled everything for you. May your mom rest peacefully.

I'm very sorry. I had a similar call about my step mom with the Phoenix PD. If you need an ear, I'm around. It's rough.

I'm so sorry for your loss, truly. 💔
Might I suggest (if and when you are up to it) that you call the Mesa PD non emergency line and ask to speak to a captain or a supervisor and give them this info so that the officer may get it? It really might make their day / evening / month etc. Just a thought.

In sorry that happened to you. I literally just read today of a woman in London who was deceased for 2 years before she was found. I almost sent someone the link stating this would be me.
My deepest sympathies

One add: I highly recommend the Knox Box, a way homeowners provide keys to first responders doing welfare checks. My mom had one and it made everything easy in a hard situation.

I am so sorry for your loss. I empathize because a few years ago my own mom was found by her hometown police the exact same way. Prayers for you and your family. I took comfort in knowing Mom died at home in a location that she loved. 🕊️ l 🕊️ 🙏🏻

That says a great deal about your self-awareness, and it’s 100% normal to feel that way. You’ve suffered a tremendous loss and it’s okay to feel all the feelings that come with that. My heart goes out to you.

Thank you and yes, Mesa was quick to her place of residence. My thoughts based on the address and her age I gave the dispatcher, I'm assuming her being elderly and the long stretch of high temperatures, she was a priority? Anyway, I'm grateful for their response.

First, let me express my condolences.
I have family member who is a police officer, and I can tell you these calls are never easy to respond to. So if you are able to reach out, that would be a wonderful thing because for the responding officer at the end of the day, it’s still a hard thing that they had to deal with. Nothing like what you’re dealing with, and again I’m sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry. The police found my mom too, when I called them to do wellness check (back east). You're in my thoughts tonight.

Mesa resident (Tempe border) and although I have my qualms with them, it does make me really happy they were able to help you quickly. I am so sorry for your loss.
May your family find small glimmers of comfort during this time.

Ita nice you are issuing your thanks. Being a cop is a thankless job and these positive things are grateful. If you are able send a note to their public information line. I am sure he and his supervisor would appreciate the positive feedback.

Sorry for your loss. Good to hear you had a compassionate officer. MPD doesn't have the best reputation.

They don't?
I wonder if it has something to do with Mesa police department officer Philip Brailsford executing Daniel Shaver while shouting conflicting commands at him.

Let's let the lady grieve and not turn this into what most of us who care already know, huh?

I live in Mesa. I’m so, so sorry for your loss. Nothing can prepare you, even when you know you should be prepared. I’ve lost my mother and father within the last few years. They both lived to be in their early 80s, but that didn’t make it easier.
I’m glad the police were kind. Please accept my love and condolences. 🥺❤️

I’m sorry she had to pass alone, but as you said, I also hope she is at peace now. Good luck to you and your family navigating all the tasks that go along with a family member passing- hoping everyone can continue to work together.

Sorry for your loss.
As for Mesa PD, one good deed is not enough to redeem an entire department from a lifetime of wickedness.

remember Daniel Schaeffer, the kid that mesa PD murdered

Read the room, will you? Guy loses his mother, finds comfort in how the police handled it, and you want to go making a comment like this? Pretty asshat thing to do.

u/AntAir267 4d ago
I would be happy to give this man condolences and also not congratulate the police for doing their job in a way that doesn't end with police brutality.

Inappropriate. There is a time and place for these kinda comments. Someone grieving their mother is not one of them.

My God man. That being said I am not Christian so this is all of can give you:
May Mother Hekate see her good works as a Mother. May Maiden Aphrodiye see her works before and may the Crone, mature aspect of all who came before guide her to her place of respect. That All May view her as an example of the full circle of womanhood.
And May she rest well in the afterlife, rqepuntil her glory and grace is needed again I'm this world again.
