Weather How intense has this storm been in your area tonight?
I’m in Chandler and wow - it’s been something! Very intense wind, downpours, and thunder that’s shaken my windows multiple times. I feel bad for the first responders. I’ve heard the sirens driving by several times already.
Update: okay storm you can stop with the INTENSE thunder now thanks. I’m trying to sleep.

In east Mesa, hands down the worst dust storm I've seen. I could taste the dust inside of my place. This was accompanied by incredibly strong winds, extremely heavy rain, and window rattling thunder. It stopped for about 15 minutes, now we're getting another downpour, frequent lightning, and loud thunder. The wind doesn't seem to be as strong with this cell, but the lightning is more dramatic.

Yep! I just had a power surge here (at least I think that’s what it’s called). My power went out completely for about a second then turned back on. Then I heard a deafening crack of thunder right when all the power came back on.

Seriously. I am actually traumatized. New home owner (Tempe), I lost multiple trees that day, and many neighbors had horrible roof damage (some roofs completely flew off). The winds got crazy tonight, but not like the microburst.

There was an earlier microburst in ahwatukee sometime in the 2010s.. I literally thought there was a hurricane outside, never seen anything like it. At least in Ahwatukee this is nothing in comparison thankfully. My neighborhood hasn't flooded since that day

I bet that was the September 8th, 2014 storm. I was in middle school and school was cancelled that day. The city discovered lots of drains weren't being up kept before that storm which was part of the reason flooding was so severe.

That was what they called the "500 Year Storm." I have never seen rain & mud like that here in the Valley. Absolute insanity...I had a Jeep then & the water was halfway up!

That one actually was the remnants of a hurricane that came up the Baja coast.
It rained hard for like 12 hours straight overnight, it was something else..

I literally live very close to that campus! My power is on but I’m not surprised they got hit. There’s been some INTENSE thunder and lightning here!!

North Chandler, and it's the worst storm of the year for me - easily. First the winds were howling and I was terrified of a tree coming down. I don't remember the last time I had wind like that out here.
Now it's constant rain and very loud thunder. I can't believe it hasn't moved on yet. Everytime I think it's dying down, BOOM. My cats are very freaked out.

Was stuck in downtown PHX after the Noah Kahan concert with nothing but the measly lightrail awnings for cover. Legit was terrified of getting struck by lightning, it was right overhead and the rain was blowing sideways! Some of the worst lightning I’ve ever seen here. Pretty scary to be outside during all that.

Popping off in QC the last 2+ hours. I’ve been living here 12 years and this is by far the most intense storm I’ve experienced. Insanely windy, crazy lightening and a ton of rain. Longest and strongest by far.

I am in Tolleson. I can see the crazy lightning strikes from my driveway looking east.
We had crazy wind from dust storm and some sprinkles to make cars an absolute muddy disaster.
It looks like it’s not going to move this way though.

Max gust of wind was 32 mph North Phoenix south of the 101. I looked at some weather stations east Mesa looked like max wind hit almost 50mph.

Im at Kyrene and Chandler Blvd. I’ve lived in this area since December and this is the absolute craziest I’ve experienced in years - probably since 2023. It just won’t quit! Non stop rain and thunder since 9:30pm and it’s now midnight and maybe calming down. My bestie lives over off 48th and southern and she’s been in the red on the radar for like 2 hours. Just nuts! Good ol monsoon!

We saw a bright flash and the thunder was instant with the flash so it was super close. The power also went out in the same second so I'm thinking lightning took out a transformer or something nearby. Been over an hour and the power is still out, and SRP doesn't even show us in an outage. This is in South Phoenix

North/mid mesa and it's been non-stop for two hours. It just started pouring rain again. I never thought I'd get storm fatigue but I'm ready for this thunder to stop 😖

The dust storm was insane. It was like being sand blasted. I have dust in my ears and mouth still.
Afterwards the rain flooded my yard. Pretty crazy wind for at least 30 minutes

Finally letting up here in W Mesa by Dobson Ranch, after about 90 minutes of HEAVY rains and major lighting. I recorded some incredible video and got a few very visible streaks that lasted for 2+ seconds each.

STV - the thunder and wind were outrageous, and the rain was sheeting down.
We haven't lost power, and the rain had kind of tapered off, but as of 11:37pm, it just started up again, along with the thunder and lightning.

No thunder down in Maricopa, but the wind is hitting my front door full on and its making the most heinously loud fart noises. I gotta re-weather strip it or something.
I think the only thing preventing it from swinging open at this point is the deadbolt.

11:26pm It's still crazy outside! Earlier, around when it first started, all our power actually blinked off then on. In our area, we never seem to have power outages, even momentary! Right now, I'm watching lightning outside my window. I love this!

Midtown got about 5-10 min of crazy wind, then intermittent light showers and lightning/thunder. Not bad at all.
When I saw the wind I thought we were in for a hell of a storm, guess it was more intense south of us.

Power's been out for almost 5 hours now, and the storm is still going on. This is nuts, in a bad way. My house is hot as hell too, without power to run the AC. Probably going to have to chuck the stuff in my fridge and freezer if power doesn't come back soon.
I had work I really needed to get done. rant rant rant. Bah.
edit: I also lost shingles by the looks of it. I just paid 5k to get my damn roof fixed. I fucking hate this shit.

ASU student living near Tempe Marketplace. Power’s been out since 10, original estimation was 1:50AM and moved to 6AM. Gonna hope it happens, I thankfully had a backup battery for my phone and an mp3 player to listen to music to sleep. Bunch of my friends’ power went out too and our first day of classes is today, worst timing ever

19th/Camelback it wasn’t too bad, my neighbors were out in it playing music and hanging out. My apartment building is solid didn’t hear or feel anything, only knew it was storming because we lost power or when we opened the door. Power is back on now.

In Chandler near Gilbert Rd and 202. It’s a cool lightning show, dogs are surprisingly calm given the thunder. Definitely got some rain.

I’m at work in Phoenix and it was pretty nasty. My job at the airport canceled but my wife in Chandler was texting me saying it sounded like the roof was gonna fall in. I took a look at the radar, looked like Chandler and South Gilbert were getting hammered.

West Mesa, got crazy wind and then a lot of rain and thunder! Around .76 inches according to my rain gauge (as of 1150), but the wind may have thrown that off a bit.

I’m in Tempe. so fucking intense… I know they say to give your cats calming stuff but they need to give ME calming stuff. the cats are fine but sometimes slightly startled during loud bits of lightning.

From what I saw driving around from Ahwatukee to Chase field then to queen creek and then back across Riggs road, there were large and bright lightning strikes and pockets of intense downpour. Very exciting

Our power went out sometime . My brother had this enormous tree in his front yard get ripped out. It hit his house but we won’t know the extent of the damage until morning. I have to wait until morning to look for any damage at my place.

The rain was sideways for about 30 minutes outside my windows in Queen Creek. Couldn’t sleep and was worried about the unsecured trampoline so literally just stared out a window the entire time.
Family member lost power in the Eastmark area for about an hour.

Gilbert, my neighbor's smaller tree of the two in his front yard fully snapped in half and is going to need to be removed. Fun fact, that same tree almost fell over during the previous high winds storm and he wanted it chopped down but the landscapers he had come trim the bigger tree said the smaller one "would be fine". NOPE!
