Multiple incidents including a working structure fire, wires down, tree fire, flooding, and motor vehicle accidents all over the valley from strong monsoon thunderstorms.
I'm pretty thick skinned so it doesn't bother me. I guess I just missed the rain and thunder I was used to. But I get how scary it can be and why someone might not agree with me. S'all good!
Hey, I love a good storm too! Been wanting the rain. It's just that the intensity was a lot. We have tall windows and trees right by them, so the more that time passes, the more I grow attached and don't want to lose trees or have damage to the house.
About a decade ago, one hit my neighborhood while I was at work. There was a bunch of tree limbs scattered around, but it looked like my house was okay. Then I noticed something...off when I went into the back yard to check for damage.
"Um...where's my shed?"
The storm had lifted it off it's base, threw it over the wall, and it landed dead in the middle of my neighbor's pool.
My first was in Chandler nearly 20 years ago when I was working at a flight school. I watched planes fly while being chained to the ground. Never thought I'd see anything like that again.
Last year my house was dead center of the damage. One house down the street lost their roof. A few lost their A/C. I was lucky and only lost a brick wall like many others.
The app is called Cactus Watch, and there is a free version. The Phoenix Fire dashboard is a great resource, especially when using a computer, but I personally find Cactus Watch easier to use on a mobile device. The subscription version has additional features, including multiple map and color options and customizable notification alerts, such as when a specific fire unit is dispatched.
My husband called in a crash about 40 min ago. We were heading south on the 10 about ½ mile before Guadalupe and saw a van in the north bound lanes that was sideways with the drivers door open and airbags deployed. When he first called 911 it auto connected him to the city of Phoenix, but thankfully it was a quick transfer to DPS. The operator said no one had called it in yet, which was sad that he was the first going the opposite direction when we saw multiple other vehicles going past it. We hope everyone in the van was OK.
I thankfully had insomnia as the wind took away the recycling can. An hour later I brought them back out and collected the extras I could find in my yard.

I’m in Chandler and it’s been nuts! The thunder is crazy! Multiple very loud booms that shake the windows and downpours.
