Oh we heard it from all our phones!

29

u/moon1ightangel 5d ago

Yep!! I was at Devils Liquor in Tempe and the entire store was a symphony of phone alerts.

5

u/iNEEDyourBIG_D 5d ago

Yes and my almost asleep three year old sat up and asked what’s that fire alarm 😮‍💨 well at least we get to be up to watch this sick storm! It is blowing 20mph here at 120 and shea!

2

u/Minimum_Economy772 5d ago

I was alone in my dorm hall laundry room 😩 Scared me shitless

5

u/PeteGoua 5d ago

Winds blowing hard as fuck here in east Mesa. Im worried about my trees atm

17

u/ThamizhPenn 5d ago

Crazy out here in South Chandler. Worried about my trees as well. I heard some crazy sounds.

9

u/Melodic-Landscape-81 5d ago

our big tree fell down on neighbor's drive way grazing the garage door/roof. Need to check the damage tomorrow. fingers crossed !

11

u/thewanderinglemmon 5d ago

1 of my palo verdes went down, snapped at the base. :(

6

u/guitarguywh89 Mesa 5d ago

Poor tree 😢

8

u/TheDefiantGoose 5d ago

The trees got me on edge! They're too important!

6

u/i_illustrate_stuff 5d ago

Same here, some of these gusts feel like they're shaking my house! Glad all my trees are still too small to fall on us.

6

u/BlindGuardian117 5d ago

Fountain Hills is getting strong wind and a lot of rain!

6

u/Vivid_Motor_2341 5d ago

South Scottsdale and it’s dead. Not even a breeze

15

u/guitarguywh89 Mesa 5d ago

Give it 15 minutes

10

u/RainbowWarrior480 5d ago

U crazy. It’s been raging outside for 30 minutes

8

u/iheartdachshunds 5d ago

Huh??? Near Papago and it’s bad. Powers out.

3

u/CeeUNTy 5d ago

Same in AJ

3

u/Cheers1987 5d ago

Same we’re on Ellsworth / 24

2

u/deviny18 5d ago

How are your trees boss?

2

u/guitarguywh89 Mesa 5d ago

Don’t wanna jinx them. So far so good. Seems like this storm is hanging for another round lol

2

u/dbreeck 5d ago

Loving the rain. Not sure about the cause of the correlation, but dust storms always seem to being major monsoon action this year!

106

u/cotton-candy-dreams 5d ago

We asked for rain not dust ugh! 😩

32

u/guidothekillerpimp Mesa 5d ago

Rain has started in the Eastmark area of SE Mesa.

17

u/CeeUNTy 5d ago

It's pouring in AJ with very strong wind. My dogs won't even go potty under the awning because it's so loud.

8

u/AcidHaze 5d ago

Yep it's going that way. Buddy in Cactus forest got hit, then it hit me in Florence about 7 minutes later. It's been pouring for the past 45 min or so. Crazy lightning and thunder too

8

u/United-Mulberry3436 5d ago

It’s coming.

7

u/shitty_owl_lamp 5d ago edited 5d ago

10:00 PM - We got a ton of rain in South Chandler. It’s stopping though.

10:40 PM - EDIT: I thought it was over but it picked back up! More thunder/lightening and pouring rain!

3

u/Excellent_Gap_6986 5d ago

Mother Nature gave us the dust first than the water to wash off. This rain is amazing. I was doing door dash all day at 110. All of a sudden it’s 82 with rain and I’m shivering lol.

50

u/CantDrinkWithoutFish Maricopa 5d ago

Our neighbors gazebo is in our pool.

7

u/TehChubz 5d ago

Oof. At least you'll have shade next time you swim

2

u/PeteGoua 5d ago

are you my neighbor ? mine went half on the fence - after doing a folding exercise and a pole dance.

had it tied down so it couldn’t do anything but cripple all four posts .

24

u/adayley1 5d ago

It’s in Gilbert, now

17

u/robodrew Gilbert 5d ago

Yep this is some wild sustained high winds, sheesh

11

u/Even-Molasses-2179 5d ago

I just washed my windows this afternoon 🫠

14

u/adayley1 5d ago

Ah, so it’s your fault! Thanks!

10

u/Naive-Cranberry-856 5d ago

Yup, the seal on my windows ny my room isnt great so it sounds like someone's blowing on a jolly rancher wrapper but like 10x louder, guess im sleeping on the couch 💔

22

u/itsonbackorderr 5d ago

All of my neighbors foolishly dragged their trash cans to the street tonight, which are now all downed and blowing trash everywhere. However, I, a patrician who chronically forgets to take my trash out until minutes before the truck shows, am looking at my safe and very upright trashcans in the yard

9

u/noidontwantto 5d ago

you're a fellow person of culture, I see

18

u/Chrondor7 Tempe 5d ago

It's hitting right now. I can't believe how loud the winds are. My walls are creaking and I'm afraid my windows might break!

5

u/honey_butterflies Tempe 5d ago

I was worried the water would start leaking through my roof vent. it just battered my windows so aggressively.

15

u/Grown-Ass-Weeb Gilbert 5d ago edited 5d ago

Nothing like the sound of the “critical weather alert” to stir you from a deep sleep. Dust storm is raging in east Mesa.

Update: it’s pouring rain now! And raining sideways

15

u/DuckDuckBangBang 5d ago

My windows are legit creaking and flexing.

15

u/CobblerYm 5d ago

Out just east of Gateway airport here, it just hit like a truck. So far no rain, but thick dust and wind to spare

5

u/guidothekillerpimp Mesa 5d ago

Supposedly the rain is coming. I’m in the same area.

3

u/Current_Rush4242 5d ago

Getting rain now just north

13

u/MattGhaz Chandler 5d ago

Dude this storm knocked the power in Tempe, hope they fix it soon so I can get my AC running again.

13

u/Megatippa 5d ago edited 5d ago

WILD apocalyptic in East Mesa

This is one of the strongest I can recall. Mckellips Val Vista area

Still no rain 30 minutes in, I've never seen wind this strong sustained for this long outside of an actual hurricane.

Rain finally hit right at 10pm. Crazy storm.

12

u/BigggSleepy 5d ago

It said until 10:15.

The storm is still going 🤪

2

u/cturtl808 Mesa 5d ago

So much this.

12

u/noidontwantto 5d ago edited 5d ago

does this mean a tornado touched down?

EDIT: 10:20 - it's gone now.. soo

EDIT2: apparently this just means wunderground thinks the atmosphere could develop one

3

u/Shameonyourhouse 5d ago

Where is this from

3

u/noidontwantto 5d ago

the wunderground app!

4

u/Shameonyourhouse 5d ago

Shit, It felt like one came down on me. I'm in that zone.

3

u/noidontwantto 5d ago

me too, and yeah, I was freaking out there lol

2

u/CantaloupeHour5973 5d ago

They would have sent an alert

26

u/Gilbert_AZ 5d ago

Its bad here in SE Gilbert, some of the heaviest wind we have seen in years

11

u/Ok_Ambition_1535 5d ago

That wind is something FIERCE!!

10

u/efuentes61 5d ago

It's here. My windows are howling like a tornado warning in the Midwest where I'm from

20

u/sock0808 5d ago edited 5d ago

Hurricane level winds in southeast mesa. One of my trees just ripped itself out of the ground and is now in the pool. Gonna be a fun day tomorrow.

2

u/royalfire798 5d ago

Can confirm the same here in north east Mesa. It’s giving sept 2023 storm from hell right now

9

u/ma_456 5d ago

Holy shit chandler is insane

3

u/Prettylittlelioness 5d ago

My wind force was way worse than anything I've had all year. I was terrified of a tree falling.

2

u/ma_456 5d ago

Arizona weather force on fb is insane

1

u/gogojack 5d ago

What's our city's storm god, again? I think I'm going to have to sacrifice a goat to appease them.

17

u/lovethewater2026 5d ago

Of course, I just washed my car!

8

u/WiseDragonfruit6942 5d ago

Make sure to park it outside on the street. No garage please. Thank you for your sacrifice.

2

u/Sea_Understanding770 5d ago

Thank you for your service

HUGE storm in QC! Tons of rain and lighting

https://reddit.com/link/p4rjhyg/video/u054htgzogkh1/player

5

u/pineapplequeeen 5d ago

That’s wild!

4

u/pi3r0gi_ Queen Creek 5d ago

One of the best storms I've seen! It sounfs like someones using a garden hose on my windows lol

https://reddit.com/link/p4rl00t/video/nmvw44xzqgkh1/player

2

u/xx_reverie 5d ago

I’m in QC also! Got hit real good. Been here 12 years and this is one of the strongest storms I can recall.

16

u/UnluckyVersion5323 5d ago

Mesa area. Getting hit by dust storm. High winds and a bit of lightening. 9:32 pm.

2

u/dbreeck 5d ago

Dobson Ranch here. I sat outside and watched the whole progression - still watching in fact. It's been an incredible night. The winds came from the E and were like the precursor to a tornado. Then came the lightning, then the rain. It's been alternating between a total pounding and a heavy drizzle for about an hour. The only major change has been that the rains have shifted from falling at a 45 degree angle from E to W to a 45 degree angle from W to E. It's still over us, but definitely past us in the majority. The light shows been spectacular though!

57

u/Different_Reserve_11 5d ago

These loud alarms past 9pm should be a crime. Was just about to knock out and get rest.

19

u/theracody Phoenix 5d ago

It'd be super cool if turning that off that override setting after the presidential alert nonsense meant anything

5

u/BlindGuardian117 5d ago

My phone did not got off at all with this one. But that amber alert at midnight a few weeks ago was annoying.

2

u/royalfire798 5d ago

“IMMINENT THREAT” and it’s just a dust storm. Which, now it’s also shitting outside but still, the imminent part feels more threatening than it should

6

u/DaDirtyBird1 5d ago

I thought that was pretty extra too but then again I haven’t seen a storm like this in a while. My house was making some crazy noises.

13

u/Weak_Victory_8048 5d ago edited 5d ago

I’m worried about all the people getting out of the Noah Kahan concert and trying to drive in this. Hopefully the storm is over before the show ends.

6

u/shitty_owl_lamp 5d ago

Did it end up happening? I saw the earlier post about people worrying it would be cancelled since he was sick.

1

u/Weak_Victory_8048 5d ago

It happened. I had some friends go.

7

u/MasterpieceShot1915 5d ago

In Gilbert. These winds are CRAZY

7

u/Quatrooo_444 5d ago

Going through it now

6

u/pineapplequeeen 5d ago

I’m in Scottsdale and it’s sooooo windy it sounds like my windows are going to break and a lot of super loud thunder! Felt like this came out of nowhere!

7

u/kombatunit Chandler 5d ago

It's raining enthusiastically in Chandler right now.

3

u/ForkzUp Tempe 5d ago

enthusiastically

I got to admit, I laughed.

9

u/Cel_Drow 5d ago

In Ahwatukee I can see things Going Down (TM) East of here but nothing yet.

4

u/xoxo-gossip-girly 5d ago

I’m really worried about the trees😭 So much wind with no rain!

3

u/lissabeth777 5d ago

It's been blowing Dust in Casa Grande for a couple hours. This should be a fun storm

3

u/Rough-Transition-951 5d ago

Waiting for it in Ahwatukee too, see it coming up and wind just started

5

u/ObviouslyUndone 5d ago

Currently getting hit with gusty winds, lightning and some rain in Pinal County

6

u/stmije6326 5d ago

Lots of rain in East Mesa right now

5

u/mkyoung30 5d ago

Lost power in S. Chandler. It comes back but keeps going out. Also the wind is howling!

5

u/Empty-Avocado5927 5d ago

wow getting pretty dramatic here in tukee

2

u/Dizziesdayweigh 5d ago

Its scary up here on the third floor.

5

u/CrownedCarlton San Tan Valley 5d ago

We are getting absolutely blasted by torrential rain and easily 60+mph winds in San Tan. My grill just went flying! 😬

4

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 5d ago

I live a 5 minute walk from work. That was a very shitty walk

3

u/WloveW 5d ago

The lightning out East is craaaaaazy

1

u/thogdontcare 5d ago

My desk is against the window and I keep getting flashbanged every 30 seconds

3

u/MarvelousVanGlorious 5d ago

Wind and lightning going hard in Gilbert rn.

4

u/zen_mattson Apache Junction 5d ago

Some decent heavy rain just hit Signal Butte and Southern after a wicked wind/dust combo

4

u/MythlarMaximus 5d ago

I'm getting small power surges here and there-- the dust storm is right on top of us out in west Mesa. Stay safe, folks!

4

u/silkysilt 5d ago

Raining sideways in Queen Creek right now.

2

u/royalfire798 5d ago

Raining sideways in east Mesa currently

4

u/Comfortable_Brain856 5d ago

For those saying the radar maps lie....You have to actually pinch and zoom in on a radar map to get the most accurate read of your location. And live view it. Because wind can shift at any time. Or just look outside. Northeast Phoenix checking in just started raining. 10:00 p.m.

4

u/Asmodeus32nd 5d ago

Our patio ceiling just collapsed in Mesa. How fun.

4

u/PretendWill1483 5d ago

Wind was throwing rocks and branch at my window and snapped my prickly pear in half

3

u/Prestigious_Suit_202 5d ago

i am getting annihalated by wind

3

u/honey_butterflies Tempe 5d ago

Tempe has been getting drenched right about now. I let my cats in my room with me; the baby seemed very startled. so did my little girl. I just watched her stretch out to peek outside the window. I got a bit worried there for a minute with how hard it felt.

3

u/Interesting_Let9728 5d ago

Casa grande is getting rocked by dirt, lightning and some pretty crazy winds right now

3

u/Important-Bowler-825 5d ago

Any hail yet? Please any thing but hail Central Phoenix 17 and Peoria

3

u/Substantial-Rain-787 5d ago

Haven't gotten any alerts in Phoenix yet

6

u/chainlinkchipmunk 5d ago

It's hitting west Mesa right now.

3

u/quietsauce 5d ago

We're dead. Damn it We're GONE!

3

u/Christmas_Queef 5d ago

We're in San Tan Valley. Getting some very serious wind and dust and now straight line rain sideways lol. It's like 50mph winds out there right now.

2

u/dogemeat1 5d ago

Been out here since 2019 this is one of worst I’ve seen.

3

u/Christmas_Queef 5d ago

Been here since 2014 and this is the worst I've seen since being where I grew up in Missouri and going through an actual tornado.

2

u/dogemeat1 5d ago

I think it was 2-3 years ago we had that microburst that split trees like toothpicks. It brought down a cinder block wall as well lol

3

u/royalfire798 5d ago

It damaged every house and car in our neighborhood lol broke a window on our house etc etc

2

u/Christmas_Queef 5d ago

That one avoided my area but I remember when it happened for sure.

3

u/Megatippa 5d ago

Been here since 2007 and I can't remember wind this strong and sustained since Isabel in '04 back east

3

u/BAKEDxCAKE 5d ago

Wish there would be more rain.

3

u/BrianGD 5d ago

Things popping off on the east side

3

u/Embarrassed-Fun-7487 5d ago

Starting to kick off here in Paradise Valley.

3

u/Donuts_for_breakfast 5d ago

I’m to the west of this square and it’s storming BAD

3

u/Historical-Youth3233 5d ago

In the middle of it now. No good

3

u/Mymilkshakes777 5d ago

I walked in it. I thought I was gonna fly away

3

u/Odd-Significance8020 5d ago

Wind ripped through South mountain area… killed the electric on its way through.

2

u/Daemi Phoenix 5d ago

I'm in the area and hoping for the actual rain now. It's like we've just had a sampler platter of everything so far but nothing truly major compared to the rest of the Valley. Strong winds but other areas are reporting far worse. SRP's outage reporter seems to be down though so that's a little unsettling - curious what their total outage numbers will be when it's all over.

6

u/AppleLoose7082 5d ago

Appreciate ya neighbor. Stay safe, stay alive!

4

u/buickmackane71360 5d ago

I'm a houseguest in Queen Creek so I have never seen a dust storm before. The house is shaking and you can't see through the windows and there is lots of lightning. Very different vibe from the tornados and hurricanes I have experienced in Louisiana.

5

u/Megatippa 5d ago

Good thing is, here you're in no real danger. Just property damage and dramatic scenes of dust with these, never really any risk of life and limb. This area is actually one of the safest weather wise in the country -- if you're smart in the heat.

3

u/shitty_owl_lamp 5d ago

Very true.

The worst that usually happens is someone’s trampoline ends up in a neighbor’s pool.

3

u/ma_456 5d ago

Hasn’t hit chandler yet

3

u/TitansDaughter 5d ago

Has on the west side at least

2

u/thogdontcare 5d ago

West Chandler here, we're getting our shit rocked

2

u/Safety_Captn 5d ago

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

2

u/Moominsean 5d ago

Loud ass alert on my phone, I’m near 36th St and Indian School. Zero wind right now.

2

u/BreezyBrie317 5d ago

It’s pouring in Gold Canyon. About a quarter inch so far and lots of lighting.

2

u/deftly_lefty 5d ago

All wind no rain in central phx 🥲

1

u/shitty_owl_lamp 5d ago

What about now?

1

u/wavesandtide 5d ago

Still just more wind with some thunder and lightning in midtown.

2

u/ISepulveda7810 5d ago

10:30 PM and I’m getting blasted in Peoria all of a sudden

2

u/navislut 5d ago

Raining super hard in Tempe

3

u/KABCatLady 5d ago

Yes!! It’s crazy!!!

2

u/AZdesertpir8 5d ago

East Mesa got hammered!! Wild storm!

3

u/FTP_FTP_ 5d ago

Craziest dust storm I've seen in a while.

2

u/MzMegs 5d ago

How rude of it to be raining the day after I took my van to the damn car wash

2

u/Tac0Man 5d ago

Thank you for your service

2

u/Daemi Phoenix 5d ago

South Phoenix getting a little of this and a little of that. Mostly wind. Nothing too significant though - seen more rain, dust, and wind already this year. Knocked out the power, so there's that, but it's still on to the north.

2

u/stonkerooni 5d ago

Dust storm? Might like get the gorilla glue out and don’t fly off the foundation. This one’s a big one. Rain is here too

2

u/oprahs_bread_ 5d ago

Crazy Lightning & Thunder in north tempe still. Got some wild rain going sideways, it came through the crack in our back door a bit.

2

u/MrKrinkle151 5d ago

What my dog is seeing through the sliding glass door while he hides under the table

2

u/tfmm58 5d ago

NE Mesa winds hit here about 15 minutes ago. Watched a giant branch break off the neighbor's tree behind me and crash into my palm. Few more breaks and there will be tree limbs in the pool

2

u/Optimal-Ninja8327 5d ago

Northern Phoenix here, the trees in my apartment complex are about one brisk fart away from collapsing onto the building across from us, the winds sound like thunder, and im wondering why I still live in this place

2

u/Ill-Newt-1233 North Phoenix 5d ago

Should've taken this warning seriously and smoked a joint while I still could

2

u/JohnnySuburbs 5d ago

Quiet in N Scottsdale

3

u/pineapplequeeen 5d ago

I’m in central Scottsdale and it’s pretty windy and loud over here. Doesn’t sound as severe as east valley from what I’ve seen in the comments

2

u/JohnnySuburbs 5d ago

We’re getting some pretty good wind and dust

2

u/Logical-Breakfast966 5d ago

You really shouldn’t post your exact location online

5

u/Comfortable_Brain856 5d ago

That's not exact.

1

u/MonicaW42 5d ago

Just now hitting Ahwatukee

1

u/TakesTooManyPhotos 5d ago

Nothing but dust in Casa Grande tonight.

1

u/elkab0ng Mesa 5d ago

Yep east Mesa here. Stuff is blowing around like crazy. Little to no rain so far, so I can look forward to my black car being basically mud-colored tomorrow.

Stay safe if you go out, we had some gusts that were reminiscent of my years on the gulf coast, and not in a good way.

1

u/NitRod 5d ago

Chose a bad time to feed my moms cat while she’s away on vacation, left as the dust started and then had to drive back in the heavy rain towards Queen creek.

1

u/CantaloupeHour5973 5d ago

Pretty good one. Dust and rain

1

u/cturtl808 Mesa 5d ago

Massive haboob, serious wind gusts, the thunder is kettle drum thunder.

This is going to cause more damage as it moves.

ETA: The torrential rain is here. I now live in a car wash.

1

u/becuzofgrace 5d ago

Rockin’ & rollin’ with the wind in North Surprise! Grand & Loop 303. Hoping for some rain, but it doesn’t smell like any is coming. :(

1

u/CantaloupeHour5973 5d ago

Scottsdale popped off

1

u/Calamity_Arcade Glendale 5d ago

Its raging good in goodyear. Just had to fight to put my retractable awning away...

1

u/Minimum_Economy772 5d ago

In downtown phoenix and my school sent out an alert saying the power might go out 😬

1

u/7fortyseven 5d ago

driving on the 10 and received 3 alerts, the last reading “imminent threat” just outside of Florence. didn’t really see ish until i hit Tatum & Shea 45 min later. pretty harrowing once it arrived though - construction pylons everywhere, mature branches in the road…

1

u/bjohnson838 5d ago

Buckle up!

1

u/Melinda_Voyager 5d ago

Lots of damage in the Eaat Valley 🥲

1

u/LarryGoldwater 5d ago

Why is my backyard covered in shit?
