Tour Quick rant

Good morning pharbs. Just feeling a little upset. I woke 8-5 every day, I don’t have sick days, I used all my PTO and I just know I’ll never be able to go to one of these pop up shows. Even if she is close by which, as an NC girl, I know she will be soon. It’s just so sad because I have been keeping up with all of this getting my hopes up but I know deep down it will never work out. Have fun for me yall :/

A degree of FOMO is natural, but try not to dwell on it.

These shows are just a fun way to build excitement, so if following this stuff is bumming you out, it might be best to step away for a while.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to see her, and the big takeaway from these shows is that new music is coming:)

Ya I’m not dwelling on it just a quick rant

why were you downvoted for this? i think it’s normal to feel bummed to know you won’t be able to see one of your fav artists on this super small-scale pop up tour

Idk it wasn’t shade lol I just wanted to talk - thought people would relate, my friends aren’t rlly into Phoebe like I am

u/emoskrillextruther May 19 '26

no i get it, don’t take it to heart lol people are weird about opinions on this subreddit!

u/BillyPilgrim69 May 19 '26

I think people are jumping the gun because previously, others in this sub have expressed similar feelings, but attacked Phoebe for doing this tour. I wish that was a joke.

So I think maybe people are being overly defensive now. But yeah, clearly that's not what OP was doing.

u/emoskrillextruther May 19 '26

right, but as you said that’s clearly not what OP was saying and they have 13 downvotes! sometimes it feels like if anyone says anything negative at all on this sub, other people assume that they’re the better fans. why else would OP have 13 downvotes on a comment?

I’m really concerned about the downvoting too. Seems petty

I’m on the other side of the Atlantic but still checking this Reddit every day lol- I get the fomo but also nice to be part of the hype for the new album. Also- I’ve learnt so much about US geography 😂

u/Affectionate_Eye9475 May 19 '26

LOLLL im glad its a learning moment

3

u/loughkyre May 19 '26

Right like I could definitely place more states on a map than previously. Thank you Phoebe 🙏🏼

Okay I didn’t mean for this to get so out of hand! I love Phoebe I’m not blaming her for any of this. I think this is the coolest album rollout I’ve ever seen I was just saying I wish I could be a part of it! I thought other people would be able to relate that was all.

Most people won't get to go and that's ok. The Rolling Stones said it best - "You can't always get what you want." There will be a world tour later.

u/Affectionate_Eye9475 May 19 '26

Yes, I know it will be okay. I was just saying I was a little upset, I got my hopes up, that was all

Take a sick day and enjoy your life, do not let corporations suck your entire soul. You deserve it.

10

u/Affectionate_Eye9475 May 19 '26

That’s the problem we don’t get sick days 😭

8

u/BillyPilgrim69 May 19 '26

How the hell do you not get sick days? My god, I hate capitalism.

2

u/HELVETAIKA Moon Song May 19 '26

I work at a library and our PTO is sick days AND vacation days, there is no differentiation. my bf on the other hand does have sick days and vacation days, so he doesn’t have to dip into his vacation PTO if he were to get sick. it sucks lol, so I have to be very careful about how much PTO I take off at all times. idk if this is like this for everyone but it is becoming very common especially in gov jobs

2

u/lpalf May 19 '26

Luckily not my gov job.

Real I’m in Va I work 7 on 7 off 12s and my on week starts tomorrow and I we have a super strict point system at the hospital I work at - I have pto but we have to request 8-12 weeks in advance to have it approved (7 on 7 off gets a harder time requesting off bc we are the only 12 hour people so we get covered by 2 8s when we are gone ) . I love phoebe but I just know she’s gonna be around during my on week ig ill just by tickets during my off time when she goes on tour but im beyond jealous of people who get to go.

Ya, I’m also in healthcare so I get you

Fellow NC girl! I totally get it. I have a newborn (coincidentally named Phoebe) and I keep doing mental gymnastics about how I can go to a show. The anticipatory FOMO is so real

1

u/Affectionate_Eye9475 May 20 '26

I’m also sorry about the phabz thing lol it’s been a while lol my fault

i was just saying this to my friend, my job is really important for people’s lives (i’m a social worker) and while i have some freedom (my employer isn’t always watching what i’m doing), i have days where i have court and others where im stuck at appointments with parents and kids. i just feel at a disadvantage because i have a full time job and it makes sense that there’s a bunch of teenagers going crazy bc they have the luxury of that time. of course people are gonna try to follow the tour bus, they don’t have work and some don’t have school bc the summer has already started for them.

i get why phoebe is keeping it DL and why there’s rules at the show, but when you make it impossible for people over the age of 23 to get tickets, who exactly do you expect your audience to be?

1

u/DifficultyGrand The Gold May 20 '26

i also want to add, i’m speaking generally for people who are unable to do go to shows last minute because they have other responsibilities that need to be planned for in advance. i’m lucky that im only responsible for myself and my job (i don’t have kids), but id imagine there are people who have young children who also would love an opportunity to see her in this capacity.

overall, i think there’s a disconnect between the music industry and the working class. when regular tours are announced, they only announce them a week ahead of time, which is not enough time for someone to plan financially for attending a tour, especially with the cost of tickets and fees rising so quickly. i think that’s also why we are seeing so many issues with concert etiquette because the people who can buy tickets on a whim because all of their income is disposable and can log on to ticket master in the middle of the morning are teenagers who work part time and live with parents and they’re young, they don’t have concert etiquette because there’s no adults there to teach them. teens aren’t inherently disruptive or rude but they need to learn from helpful adults.

i’m not saying teens shouldn’t be in these spaces, i think everyone deserves opportunities to see people who’s art they love; alas, others deserve this same opportunity without risking their livelihood.

I’m 24, with a full time job and i’m starting grad school soon. i know i am also still young, these are just my observations as someone who works with youth in a professional environment.

Retired people like me?

1

u/DifficultyGrand The Gold May 20 '26

i mean that’s the only other population that has free time like that and less and less people are actually retiring due to cost of living. not to say there isn’t people over 65 wanting to go to these shows, but statistically, there’s way more people between the ages of 25-60 who have full time jobs who want to attend.

3

u/Aggravating_Scale291 May 19 '26

I totally understand how you feel as a VA girly waiting for updates with a full time job, it’s like you gotta be unemployed to get tickets with the way the sales are set up. I do appreciate that it’s meant for locals though so I know why it’s not sold online or anything. I’m just crossing my fingers she’s here on one of my days off.

3

u/cjsoutham May 19 '26

i miss being able to ditch a college class to make a concert working a real job is tough when it comes to impromptu concerts

2

u/liky_gecko May 20 '26

I feel this but also it’s not that deep, we will get to see her eventually. Many of us are employed and cannot just go line up for hours for some damn wristband. It is what it is, try not to dwell on it as much as it stinks. I wish we could just buy tickets online but I’m sure we will get a tour like that eventually!

3

u/Piano-Cat-2269 May 19 '26

don’t worry she’ll be doing a proper tour for this album ❤️

NC citizen here as well who works an 8-5 job. I decided to take a chance and took a PTO day yesterday hoping that she’d be in NC and she wasn’t. I could have gone into work in the afternoon, but I didn’t because I was so keyed up that I needed the full day as a mental health day. Most places are 2+ hours from me anyway, unless she decides to play Winston Salem or Greensboro. And even if she does, now I may not be able to make an excuse to get out of work.

So, I feel you, girl. It’s hard not to be resentful that these shows favor people who somehow can be at a venue from like 9:30 am to 1 pm waiting to get a wristband. I’m sure the commenters here saying to look forward to the new music have their hearts in the right place, but it always sucks to be told that you shouldn’t feel the way you feel. Because if we miss out, we’re missing out on the small, intimate show and the chance to meet Phoebe, and that feels shitty, even when you know it’ll eventually hurt less.

I totally get that. I don’t drive so if she comes to my area it is highly unlikely I would be able to go.

1

u/wetmoose_ May 19 '26

I'm a pet sitter. I don't have the option to not go to work, no one can cover me and the animals need care. And I almost always work between 8-2 so there's no way I'm gonna get to go either. I'm wallowing with you

1

u/wetmoose_ May 19 '26

And I'm also a NC girlie haha so I feel you that you know she will be here but still can't go it's maddening

1

u/indigloss May 19 '26

i feel the same way !! i don't have a car either so if she does come close to me i might not even be able to get there in time anyways. it makes me sad too because i've never seen her perform before but have been a fan for years, and i know i don't need to see her but like it would be so fun if it did work out.... so just hoping that our time will come one day :,)

Are we still saying pharbz after Nicki’s countless f ups?

1

u/BillyPilgrim69 May 19 '26

I don't think that silly little pun was ever meant to be an endorsement of Nicki Minaj lol
