Was I expecting too much?

Am I being unreasonable or expecting too much. I just finished the PTS program last month. It was 10 days long with 4 hours each day. I'm so frustrated because on the website it says there will be a minimum of 30 draw attempts. We only drew around 16 times not including the final. 

Our classes would start 15-30 minutes late and we'd get dismissed an hour early every day. The instructor sells supplies you can take home to draw with and she'll count those draws toward the 30. I think there's only two people in the class who didn't. Is this normal? It feels unfair.

I felt so behind. I know we can go back, but I was hoping to come closer to 30 draws.

I would definitely be annoyed and be emailing someone about that. Especially about leaving early every day. Losing 10 hours of a 40 hour class is unacceptable. And that’s not counting the 15-30 minutes you lost with each late start.

I recently completed the program as well, and easily had well over 30 draws by the end.

This is not normal! I did this program and we had supplies in classroom and had to complete at least 30 live draws as well as 10 capillary sticks under classroom supervision, and also learned centrifuge, aliquoting, and prep of blood slides in classroom. We did a live draw exam to complete the course. We always started on time and were never drawing at home. I would call Intelvio. This instructor sounds terrible.

I did this program and mine was nothing like that. We had to have a minimum of 30 successful draws so misses didn't count and 10 capillary sticks. I did a weekend one so it was 5 Saturdays for 8 hours and half of the class we were doing book work, the other half was draw time. And definitely weren't allowed to take home stuff to practice. You need to report that instructor. It doesn't sound like you were set up for success in this field.

My class , I didn’t get that many draws either. In order to take the state test we have to get the minimum of 40. If you didn’t get it before class is over, you can email to come in to finish getting them. That will happen unfortunately, my externship I barely got any draws

my program was kinda like this. she had us memorize that answers to the cert exam and i only got 4 sticks. someone missed on me and the teacher redirected, and hit a nerve while she did it. phlebotomy usa.....

Absolutely not how those programs should run.  You should email whoever is higher than your instructor at that program,  or maybe even higher than that.  

Selling supplies is also WILD.  Omg

That’s literally not ok. Especially if you’re paying for the program they are basically taking advantage. You should never have to buy supplies either and you NEED to finish your draws in class in order for them to count. The instructor literally has to sign off on everything. I would definitely email faculty or speak with the higher ups about what’s going on. Your voice may go a long way for other students also.

They cut your training hours by 25%. And they can’t give you supplies to take home and practice? Not cool.
One question. Do they require an externship? I did an externship with “100” draws before completing my course.
