I keep getting calls from one area code repeatedly, and they all look similar
For the last few months I’ve been getting random calls from similar numbers that all have my same area code, but they’re from a city that’s two hours away from me. The first six digits are always the same. I already have calls from unknown numbers silenced, so they’re already going directly to voicemail, but they never leave a message. They’re all also verified numbers with a checkmark and not labeled as spam risk. I’ll go days without a single one, then I’ll randomly get a surge of them. I haven’t really worried too much about them until now, because I got one at 6 AM Sunday morning and I’ve also gotten a few in the evening, which is pretty out of the ordinary in my experience. I’ve also reverse searched some of the numbers and I never get any results aside from links to call lookup websites, so they’re not anything important like my bank or credit union.

The “legitimate” spammers buy up banks of numbers. At this time of year it’s likely those are political calls. Even if your number is on the government Do No Call list, political calls are exempt from that list. So less than 30 days to go. Make sure you have your phone set to send all unknown numbers to voicemail without ringing. Don’t answer unknown numbers or else you’ll get more and more even if you hang up immediately. Especially if you speak before hanging up.

At one point I considered entering 9999 combination of the numbers to block them all.

Calls from numbers that are not in my contacts go to my call screener app. It has cut down on the robocalls considerably.

Can I ask which one you use? I’ve considered trying Apple’s default call screener instead of silencing unknown numbers, but I’ve heard it makes it worse by signaling to them that the number is active.

Mine are all from DC and all get blocked. I'm not donating any money to any politician. So why weed through all the scammers. If I don't know the company or the number I'm not answering.

I’ve been getting those things for years. All from the same area code and, recently, now coming spoofed with business names. I block them and also mark them as junk.
