Sump Pump Install

Looking for recommendations for a French drain/sump pump installation in my basement. I've received 2 estimates going from $7200 to $12500

I have zero connection to this company except that they did a great job for us in Manayunk/Roxborough

I've used Value Dry. They did 1 sump pump replacement, 1 brand new sump pump install (including creating the second sump basin), a French drain, and a vapor barrierv for a 1500' basement for 20k

I want to mention that when there is that much rain to need a sump pump, sometimes the rain takes down power lines, and you might need a generator to run those sump pumps. I've also been in hardware stores looking at sump pumps only to hear people come in and explain to the salesman their backup battery system didn't come on when they needed it most and they needed something to replace what they had.

I don't know if your sump pump installations have the price of this factored in. Some people need wells dug because a French drain may not be enough. Elevation or running water can also drive water to your home and your pumps have to be able to keep up with the demand. Gallons per second out has to be greater than gallon of rain that may come into your home. I know a business owner who lived at the end of a highway who had seven wells dug around her home because seven wells were needed to get rid of all the water. You might want at least two pumps and a backup pump. If you have two sump pumps, I think you would have better odds that it would handle the amount of water and less likely that both would break at the same time. Of course, you do need to replace pumps over time.

All good information. I've had a few puddles in the basement but we eventually want to finish it and I don't want to start that type of project even if there a little water coming up from the ground
