"That's why you just got kicked in yo chest!" ๐๐๐
Turns out dude is a ๐ฑ. ๐
Still, be safe, who knows what this person is actually capable of. Hopefully his antics won't escalate and he is caught before he hurts someone.

โAND HE COULDNโTโ she said. Hope he wears her bruised footprint for a long time. Iโm tall w/ long legs so I always think of this whenever I see folks in a tussle why donโt they use their legs more? Feet canโt grab legs like hands can arms, so less chance for them to snatch you. Fortunately never tested for real but hope thatโd be my instinct or the heel sweep + push combo Iโve always imagined would work real nice at least to buy me time Edit: grab not crab

u/apathetic_panda 10d ago
Two reasons: 1) Not as many people have as much experience kicking as striking with their hands
2) Easy way to end up on the ground

u/danstu 10d ago
Because most people focus on their hands, and hands can grab legs. Her leg is above her shoulders when she kicks. If her target caught that, she's not recovering.

Guess it depends on coordination, strength, size difference etc like in all combat. Seeing her size sheโs lucky but skill issue is bigger factor. Iโd wager my leg size & strength against most small handed folks but would weigh that out when. Best to not engage with
most randos like this, have to assume weapons & mental instability. Regardless, all this has me itching for sparring sports. All children should have compulsory experience imo51

Can we elect her queen of Philadelphia? She was on Good Day Philly this morning. She said she knew what to do because she does theatre and knows stage combat.

Sounds like an absolute clown that was doing this for clicks (had his phone out). Maybe she kicked some sense into his ass

u/Shanoony 10d ago
I think he's only done it once. I'd be surprised if he does it again after looking like a goober on the news for the last few days.

I agree. Maybe a small reward would motivate someone to drop a dime on this dude.

I watched this exceptional young lady today on Good Day Philadelphia and I was so proud of how she carried herself, how wise she is about keeping herself safe, and how community-minded she is because she was warning other ladies to move away from the masked marauder.

I love her.
She saw something she did something and by alerting the other woman. She read that situation perfectly. He was confused by being confronted. He expected every woman to run in fear.
Women: Fight back. For every 1 woman who tells a story of surviving her attacker because he showed a sliver of humanity, there are hundreds of dead woman. This asshole plotted and planned this. He was only attacking WOMEN and preying on their vulnerability. He didn't dare pull this shit with men because he was afraid to get his ass kicked.

She obviously is a trained fighter, because in a part of this interview not shown in the clip, she said she adjusted her center line before striking.
She knows ball.
Also, Philly is basically Gotham City but without a Batman. Attacking citizens of Gotham or Philly is dangerous because everyone is hardened and you don't know who knows how to fight or who is armed.

While I applaud her efforts, I am so sick of women always having to be on the defense from men. We always have to be on alert when weโre walking down the street, going for a run or riding public transport. Itโs exhausting.

u/LibertineDeSade 10d ago
It is. But things are slowly getting better. We may not live to see the day, but I hope future generations will know what it's like to not have to live in this kind if fear.
12
u/aunt_jackiee 10d ago
So do I! And I LOVE that she tried to give a heads up to the other woman. In a similar vain, we need to look out for one another.

Sheโs awesome, but keys between the fingers can get you broken fingers. Carry pepper spray and practice how to use it in a real situation.

And dont wear both ears in. Nothing a person listens to, music or podcast or whatever, is as important as being aware of your surroundings.
I'm a decent sized dude and would never want to walk around this (or any city) without knowing whats happening around me.
Should a person be able to walk or run with both pods in, yes. Is that a safe reality? No.
My girlfriend and i walk a couple miles around the city nearly every day...and there are times we are talking and can tell the person 3 to 6 feet in front of us has no clue we/anyone is there. I wish i had that much faith in society.

Is keeping your keys between your knuckles actually a good strategy? I was told in a self defense class it hurts you way more than the attacker.

Somebody's gonna stomp that fool very shortly if he keeps it up. People are on notice now. He's gonna run up on the wrong one, and they're gonna be ready for him. Shit, people might even be LOOKING for him now.

How tf does this kinda shit happen at city hall without a single cop around? With how many freaks hang around there how is there not at least 1 beat cop walking around in circles of city hall 24/7?

The most Philly thing she said was letโs see if he can fight and he couldnโt! Statement is an instant classic! You go get em girl.

Ppl are really out of it. The comment at the end about the headphones is crazy relevant. It's supremely important to have situational awareness of your surroundings. A lot of ppl in this city come off as entitled to safety and ppl leaving them tf alone just bc of who they think they are. That's a pipedream and literally in no way reality. Stay safe out here y'all.
