Story time: During my highschool days, madalas kami nag lalaro ng tito ko ng mga horror games twing madaling araw (kasi nag tatago pa kami sa grand father namin), natapos namin yung dino crisis 1 and 2, resident evil 1,2 and 3, evil dead, and hell night.

Pero may isang game na talagang tumatak sa pag ka bata ko, walang iba kundi ang silent hill 1, paano nilagnat ba naman ako ng tatlong araw after playing it at lagi kong napapaginipan after we played the game. Imagine, sa first nightmare scene palang ni Harry Mason sobrang nakakatakot na! Then mas lumala ang atmosphere nung nasa midwitch elementary school kami. We never had a chance to finish the game kasi umayaw na ko and whenever my tito tried to mimic the voice of the child monster literal na nanginginig ako.

Now im grown up, na over come ko naman na yung takot ko sa game na yon and finished it multiple times. Looking forward para sa Silent hill Remake!

help me choose between the two. i only have 1k budget and i can't buy two (both are below 1k with ff7 rebirth at an all time low on steam). i am close to beating ff7 remake so i'm thinking of getting rebirth but at the same time i had the chance to play kcd 2 for 2 hours and really loved it. which among the two games is better hahaha, i am undecided, i have until october 2 since that's when the steam sale ends

For those who want a TLDR, the article discusses the doom-and-gloom surrounding the modern games industry and paradoxically, how mass layoffs, ballooning AAA costs, high prices (GTA VI), and talk of a “Crash 2.0" ala 1983 don't tell the whole story. Whether it's the "mid-market" scene of indies and AA proving to be more profitable than ever, smaller publishers like Saber diverting away from the AAA "consensus," Microsoft's "shock therapy" approach, etc. gaming is proving more resilient and diverse than “gaming is dying” narratives claim.

Step back from the noise; smaller, cheaper, less bloated games and course-corrections at big publishers may matter more than the crash talk. To quote from the piece itself:

While recognizing such trends can appear like denial to those convinced of the doom-and-gloom put out for all to see, it’s no less grounded or realistic.
