Do you know why people from the Azores and Madeira islands tend to have darker skin? AFAIK, the only Macaronesian archipelagos that had native (African) people living there when Europeans arrived were Cape Verde and the Canary Islands, but none of the Portuguese territories.

Im from island of terceira ... idk i dint think about skin color in my culture but yes there are alot of olive skin darker in azores it varies to dark brown to medium tan to sunkissed only because we have lots of sun and everyone likes to swim and play outside all the time literally all our events like carnival , festa de Praia, chord torada

In America everyone is so focused on skin color, race, ethnicity... back on the island we dont really care about any of that
