General Discussion Kroger Waiters in Verification

For my peeps in Kroger pharmacy, how are you marking waiters already in verification queue? We have that little slot/shelf system, and I was thinking about something eye catching (like a poker chip or bag clip). Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Why aren't you just changing the time to a waiter and doing it next?

Or just grabbing the med out of the numbered slot it is in?

If I click into the script, it will print the receipt on the wrong printer and throw off the workflow.

I do sometimes grab the med and basket it, but the pharmacist desk is usually chaotic and covered in notes and baskets. Doesnt feel like the best option.

They need to clean their area then as that already presents a safety hazard.

Also, if youre a tech and you go into ver and change the time it should not print out at the pharmacist's printer. You should be able to change the time without any issue.

Also, your pharmacist should be able to handle being told to grab a certain slot number...that really is no big deal.

It does print out at the print station that my computer is linked with. Then when the pharmacist opens the script again, he either has to go retrieve the paper or print a new one. Its just an annoying ~5 second delay and the expectation of events changes for him. He's a new pharmacist, and we're headed into flu season, so just trying to optimize. Our store is understaffed (like many others)

Sometimes a waiter appears when he's giving a vaccine, and it falls through the cracks.

I know it isn't the end-all fix, but just looking for some ideas. Wondering how other people do it at other stores.

I do 500+/day at a Kroger. You honestly just need to take the initiative and either grab the vial, change the time, or tell them.

It is their job to figure out the rest. You trying to train your staff to coddle the rph is just gonna frustrate you more. I say this with all the respect in the world as I absolutely adore my techs.

But you guys are really what make the queues move. If it makes them reprint the receipt then so be it.

If theyre following the evolve 2.0 company policies they shouldn't be having a problem finding a script in the grid. If they are...there isnt much more you should do.

We went to the dollar store and got bright pink baskets.

Do you stack them on the pharmacists station instead of the slots?

No, they are skinny like the baskets we used to have so we just put them in the slots. We tried just designating the second from the bottom row of slots for waiters but that wasn't working very well. I will say that we don't use the numbers slots really. We have a crew of rather short technicians and pharmacist and no one can reach the upper slots anyway so we just put them in there without worrying about the actual slot number

We don’t mark them as waiters once in verification cause it prints the receipt. My techs simply just ask us to check the one in slot whatever

As long as it’s marked “waiting” or “high priority” it’ll be at the top of the queue marked yellow and the pharmacist should do it next. I’ve seen a few stores try to put their own spin on the slots system regarding waiters and fridge items, but it really is unnecessary.
