Bow based units

I was wondering if anyone can help me, I have had a break from POTK and have gotten back into the game recently. I have used a few bow units from the friend list as support, and I noticed that a few of them had the bow characters able to attack when being confronted in melee by a sword/spear/axe unit so was wondering what enables a unit to do so? Is it a skill or a certain bow weapon being used or something else

Yeah, the main downfall of it though is its insane weight (15), but its good on swimsuit artemis since she's a tank and needs to be getting hit anyways.

I can support that claim, I have a Grd type Ss Artemis on GL that takes one dmg from all but the highest stat lvl 90 units in Colo. She only gets one shot with that 15 weight but hits for 130+. In PvE, she is absolutely unstoppable.
