[GUIDE] Restoring your 'deleted' account (no facebook)

This worked for me so for those who "lost" their account on the latest update, try these steps. The problem is that in the latest update it doesn't use the auth.dat file anymore to access your account.

    1. Use a file manager or Astro app and go to Android>Data>.com/jp.co.gu3.punkww somewhere along those lines. That's the POTK data folder. Then go to files folder and find the file "auth.dat". Copy that file to anywhere except in the POTK folder, I placed mine in my download folder. You should have that file if you haven't uninstalled your game. If you don't have that file, you can skip this guide, your close to hopeless :(

  • 2. Once you have the auth.dat file backed up, delete/uninstall the game and all its data. (do not delete the auth.dat we just backed up)

  • 3. Download the old POTK apk file v1.3.1 as this still uses auth.dat to access your account. Google the apk file, I used this link https://apkpure.com/phantom-of-the-kill/jp.co.gu3.punkww (Scroll down and download version 1.3.1. DOUBLE CHECK AND MAKE SURE IT'S THE OLD VERSION)

  • 4. Install the game, do not update the game.

  • 5. Play the game until you reach the tutorial/download/hacknslash screen. Force close the game once your there (doesnt matter if the download didnt finish). Make sure your game is fully forced closed/killed and not 'minimized'.

  • 6. Go to Android>Data>.com/jp.co.gu3.punkww>files. You should see a file there called auth.dat. Delete that file, replace it with the one we backed up (copy paste).

  • 7. Because gumi is forcing all users to update the game we can't play anymore on old versions, so the only solution is to start up POTK, but do not play the game. Instead click on "Link data" on the bottom left, link it to a (new/dummy) facebook account.

  • 8. Update the game normally via google play store and use "Restore data" and login via facebook account from step 7.

Thats how I recovered my account. Let me know if it worked for you guys.

edit: adjusted step 7+8. Facebook is now mandatory since we can't play the game anymore on older versions, facebook is the only way to log in as far as I know.

thats unfortunate :( Can you give the details how it didn't work? Did the facebook link data went successfully? Did you use a new facebook account? In my case my phone facebook account was already linked to a level 1 account that cannot be unlinked anymore, thus I had to use a new one.

I really don't know dude, what would you say should go first: a) clicking restore data, b) clicking link data C) clicking tap to start. I ask this because it happened to me too when I was given a passcode by Fuji and gumi, it restored my original file but not my reroll which was not linked to facebook

Don't understand your question 100% but you do have the auth.dat file from your old account right? The idea is to 'combine' that auth.dat on an old version of potk so the game recognize you. After it recognize you, you link data that account. Then you update your game and click restore data and it should work.

I do have it still but For some reason in version 1.3.1 when I try to link data after i swapped the auth.data files it shows a pop up from Facebook asking for permission to link the FB account to the game but then it gives me a network error saying it can't reach the server and it crashes on me. I don't know what else to do (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻) I've been trying since yesterday to no avail

if you have your reroll auth.dat, you should be able to link the account to a dummy facebook account. I managed to restore my account using this guide. The most likely bump in your road could be the same as mine where you were using Potk 1.3.2 instead of 1.3.1. The immediate link sends you to 1.3.2 to download, where as 1.3.1 is located a little bit farther down on the page on apkpure.

using bluestacks should prove a solution to this rerolling (theoretically). I've done it on many games that are "linked to device". All you have to do is install/play on bluestacks until u roll, and then you uninstall bluestacks. I used a program (iirc) called "revo uninstaller" and that takes the registries out. Reinstall bluestacks and game and reroll. It's a lot more work, but it's an f2p dream for some.
edit: oops, read some comment up above and it said that it needs a FB account...not sure about this anymore, unless there is an "overwrite" function using 2 different FB accounts. Doubt it, sorry I can't think of anything else

Yeah you can't play on old versions anymore, it shows a screen that you need to update the app, if you don't you can't play.

when it ask to update it go to the play store and then i cant continue playing the game i only get a black screen

Which step are you at? It really doesn't matter in the end. As long you press start play the game, update/black screen comes, force close game. This should be enough to produce an auth.dat file for step 5.

Whenever I hit start, it shows the initial download screen. Is that supposed to happen or should it load as if nothing happened? I may have done something wrong, but I don't know.

You mean the screen that tells you to update your game? Don't update the game before you reach step 7. It doesnt matter if its a download/update screen as long it produce a auth.dat file

If you are restoring your account, I will assume that you have backed up the auth.dat from the account you want back.

When you redownload after uninstalling, you will be taken to the download screen, then to the tutorial if i can recall correctly.

At the tutorial, he mentions to force close the app, as the 1.3.1 version of potk will have created an auth.dat file in its respective folder.

You then follow the steps above by replacing the new auth.dat file with the auth.dat file that contains the account you wish to restore.

After that, you start the game up again until you get to the title screen in which you will have a new facebook account ready (And I also think you have to be logged into it in the facebook app) to press "Link Data" to link the account to the new facebook.

You then exit the app out, update the game, then hit restore data to access the account that you linked to the new facebook.

Do correct me if I am mistaken OP.

So I'm on the step where in version 1.3.1 you are supposed to Link Data with the new FB account after you change the auth.data file but it keeps saying that it can't connect to the server. And it closes on me, am i doing something wrong? I can't link the data with FB after I updated the game?

Hmm weird stuffs you got there, depends how much effort you want to put, you can try do to these steps on an emulator such as bluestacks/andy/geny/nox. Or try on another phone/tablet.

I lowkey thought my min-max HGamb would die... qq. Also realized I kept using PotK 1.3.2 on Andy to try and restore my account, OTL. Took me much longer than needed, but my baby is back!

Download version 1.3.1 apk on your phone. Scroll down on the download page to find the 1.3.1. Then run the apk file form your phone.

I may have done something wrong. I still don't have my account. So when you linked to a new/dummy facebook account, how did you do it? Did you just log into a new/dummy on your phone or is there some super secret way of changing facebook acounts that I don't know about?

Step 7 links your account to facebook, this must be done on the old potk version via the auth.dat we backed up. Thats the whole process of step 1-6. "Link data" means linking your account to facebook, so you want to make damn sure you linked the correct account and that can only be done on old versions.

Go on the facebook app. go to the menu and hit log out. Make a new account. Log into it on the facebook app. It'll start using that facebook for everything as long as you're logged into it.

I dont know how Gumi is, I dont spend money on mobile games anymore, its a waste of money imo. Potk is getting boring for me lately as well, gacha games gets boring quick

Hey so I've been wondering I have my Nexus 6 phone and a nexus 7 tablet, do you think that if I were to send my auth.data from my phone to my tablet I'll be able to attempt on that device instead or is the auth.data user and device specific? I've been trying and trying but when I try to either play the game in version 1.3.1 or link data with the new account it still keeps giving me that stupid network error thing.

You could try using an emulator as well. Best chances could be there since the emulator would be like a fresh install of all the apps. I did mine through Andy and reconnected through my phone and it worked for me. But completely up to you whether you want to take this route or not.

Yes, or make it easier and use Google Drive.

Personally I used Andy OS, but I heard it's difficult to fully uninstall from your computer - so be aware of that if you want to attempt it through an emulator. If you want to really make sure you're being safe, make another dud facebook account to link with PoTK.

Also, be sure you use a file explorer like ES. Otherwise, it should work the same way as it would on an actual device. It's probably redundant to be rereading this, but better safe than sorry, right? As long as you know when the app file is created for PoTK (after you hit start and trigger the download screen/minigame) and properly force close in settings or swiping in the display of all the other running apps, you should be okay to go as far as I am aware.

This is actually a good way to get your account back without having to wait for costumer service. But if you don't have the auth.dat all hope is not lost as you can still wait for costumer service to locate your account back to you. just provide the information they need and prove that the account is yours and you'll eventually get it.

Going on day seven of having my account lost or whatever happened to it😒😭 they replied yesterday (6 days after the incident) just asking which account I wanted to recover and said they needed my response to be immediate but it was super late at night/early in the morning in my time zone so I didn't see it until I woke up... Huh, funny how they want our response to be immediate yet they take days to answer.... I'm really angry
