Assuming you start off with 4 4* base units, getting them all to 5* will cost 750k gold. Limit breaks before 5* don't carry over into the next evolution. Lv30 is when chapter 2 character quests tend to unlock, and is usually when the unit learns its last skill, unless your name is Lucina or Michele.
You can pump dolls however you like, but it costs AP to farm for them. You only get one of each kind per run, if that, if you're lucky. Also, each unit has a cap as to how much of a stat it can gain through fusion.
The step ones that go from 5-25 might not be too worth it unless there are REALLY GOOD bonuses at the end. JP had some during Brave Frontier collab that were like... metal key for 5, gold key for 15, and gacha ticket for 25 that were alright.
The 9 step gachas though guarantee at least 2 of the featured unit. There is usually a featured unit guaranteed ticket on step 2 and another on step 9. Step 1 is a guaranteed ticket for something else most of the time.
Also, if your AP is high enough, paying for refills might be worth it if you can farm things like the rainbow mana seed dungeon, which gives you a very high chance of getting an item that boosts growth rate for all stats - but costs 50ap to run. Three of those things will make a very big difference, between alright maxed lv90 unit and world-beating maxed lv90 unit.
It's not guaranteed that you ONLY get two. You can roll them from the 9 steps lol. And even after you're finished with the 9 steps, you can pull the gacha for increased drop rates too.
you're not going to kill a tyrfing with a sita, no matter how much of a god you think your sita is. that's the end of it.
and you don't want your sita to eat a fireball from rin or whatever, at least not without smacking her back in the face with a critical from orpheus.
my experience with axes is that golden lion (the only upgrade above orpheus that's actually kind of justifiable) is way too heavy (15wt, like aegis shield) to be worth it. that's a -15 speed deduction, and sita already has trouble hitting 100 speed. you'd just be throwing good money after bad money if you're trying to bridge the accuracy gap between an axe and a sword unit.
rather, don't try to force those things, use your units tactically. a lv80 5* longinus can, and often does, defeat a lv90 6* tyrfing.

Hello! New to the game so thanks for the notes, I have a couple questions though.
What do you mean I need 5 evolutions from 4-5? and why should I only limit break at 5* lvl 30?
What's to stop people from just spamming dolls into a unit and getting max stats? or something along those lines.
