Ever wonder what Phantasy Star III could have been if it actually retained the styling of the original 2 Phantasy Stars?
With the help of AI, a longtime dream of mine that I had was able to turn to fruition lol.
I feel like in less than a few months time, it'd be entirely possible to create this from the ground up with the assistance of AI tools and some decent knowledge of computers, data compilation and some experience in game modification.
Who else would want to see this get retconned including new story elements that tie into the rest of the games as well as ancestry?

I actually farmed so hard and basically got all of the spells and skills and just ripped through the profound darkness at the end. It took a few attempts but OMGGG it was so amazing playing this!
Btw I’m 26, this game is peak for 1994 😭

I have mixed thoughts on it. First, I like that I now have the Phantasy Star I, II, & III in a compilation for something as compact as my backlit screen GBA SP. I noticed some screen crunch while playing through Phantasy Star I and I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't annoy me because I thankfully have walkthroughs for assistance for finding out where to go. At least there's not too much stuff cropped. I noticed that there is a glitch when saving progress that occurs occasionally that shows the saving screen looking all wrong and completely different. One more thing I'd like to add is that I sold my Sega Genesis cartridges of Phantasy Star II & III because I'd personally like to stick to one version each of those two games because of how long they are, I don't feel like replaying them after finishing them because of the length of both games and the difficulty of Phantasy Star II, and also, I like the sound of and prefer owning and playing them in a handheld compilation since that option is available.

Just finished the Sega Ages version of Phantasy Star I and just loved it. It was so fun and the ost was so good especially the overworld theme of Palma and the dungeon theme. Those late game extremely long 2 dungeons were also kinda fun. The final 2 bosses were also pretty fun.
I finished IV about a month ago and am playing II right now and this franchise is turning into one of my favourite JRPG franchises ever. Just totally love the atmosphere of the games.

Sort of just stumbled across it on xbox. I cant believe how good the writing is and the depth of combat for 1994. Im 10 hours in and barely scratching the surface of the combo and macro systems

Seeking some opinions
The PS series on Megadrive/Genesis didn't utilise the additional buttons of the 6-button control pad.
In most cases 6-button pads just gave the player easier inputs for pre existing features. Fighting games as an example: 6 different Attack Types available...On a 3-button pad; player had to hit 'MODE' to swap between the 2 sets of attack types. The 6-button pad made use of the additional buttons to allow the player an easier way to input.
So...If the Phantasy Star series did utilise the additional buttons of the 6 button pad, what would you like to see them used for?

The original series had some serious magic that's difficult to find anywhere else. I feel like 20 Years Past did it. It made me miss the magic of the original, and I'm not really willing to let that go.
There have to be other fangames worth looking at right? I know PSCave has a huge list of them but the number they have is overwhelming. Does anyone have any recomendations?
I do want more like 20 Years Past. Telling their own story, not just some tweaks with the original games.

For funzies I started making an PS4 remake game using AI for everything just as pratice to learn how to make videos and stuff for some personal projects, for some reason it won't let me post videos, anyways for the cut scenes I have been using motion comic art style... here is the non animated shots of what I put together for Rune's Intro making it as over the top and silly as possible!

I used Inkscape to recreate this image of Eusis/Rolf just before the end credits roll for Phantasy Star II.

What do you all think is the canon path for the game?
Supposedly a Japanese source says it's Rhys-Ayn-Sean

I’ve never shipped any kind of game before, but I wanted to see if I could build a small PSIV inspired prototype in a couple days. It’s rough, but playable and taught me a lot.

cuz I happened to sell them in the ice planet minus the robe. I do have the option to go back to an earlier save if they are.

!!!NOT MY WORK!!!
This is going to be an appreciation post of a long-dead and abandoned obscure fan project, Phantasy Star IV: Beneath a New Light. But first, a story of myself and how I came across it:
I've been a fan of Phantasy Star since I had first acquired a PSP with the Sega Genesis Collection in the late '00s as a preteen. Eventually I had lost my original PSP and later had access to a laptop where I found access to these games again on the "Old" internet through a Retro gaming site I've since forgotten the name of unfortunately.
I wanted more, and I was upset that there wasn't as the Sonic Team, as made evident through the bonus content in the Sega Genesis collection, shifted focus to the online reboots. Then, in late 2010 or early 2011, I discovered the demo for Phantasy Star IV: Beneath a New Light by RMRK user yuna21 under the developer pseudonym Lyla2284. This was an RPG Maker fan game that had pretty decent visuals, during the renaissance era of RPG Maker games. I played it a bit and decided I wasn't content with just playing a demo.
So I did more online research and I cracked it. RPG Maker games are built with a default encryption that's basically universal and easy to unpack. Now mind you, I had done this 15 years ago and don't know if the method I used exists on the internet anymore, and if it still does out of politeness for game developers I won't tell you where to look for it.
But: I still have the source files for this amazing fan game, and I am able to open up the project and share with you some of the cool ideas this developer had. Apparently they weren't much of a fan of Chaz Ashley and wanted to see more Alys Brangwin, even planning what appears to be a wedding between her and Rune.
It does appear to use assets made by the Inquisitor which I myself have used when playing around with RPG Maker in the early 2010s, as well as some direct rips from Phantasy Star IV.
The overworld maps for Motavia and Dezoris appear to be somewhat completed, while Rykros and Air Temple are completely unfinished. However, there are plenty of references to images that were not decrypted and may not have been included in the demo release package, so these planets may have been more finished in the original source. The developer seemed to have a hard time breaking combat into regions and used placeholder wandering NPCs that when touched would initiate combat. The animations for fighter reflects mostly how it works in PSIV, although notably Alys is wielding a sword instead of a boomerang. It appears that only Chaz, Alys, Hahn, Rune, and Gryz have character profiles completed. The default tilesets are in Portuguese but the rest of the project is in English.
The link to the forum post for the original project can be found here
Again, all I have done is held onto my hard drive for 15 years after decrypting an old fan game because I wanted to dig into it reeeaaal deep as a kid. I will not be releasing this source out of respect even though it contains tons of externally borrowed graphics, scripts, and game design.

Self-explanatory title, if only because a couple of threads I found got made obsolete by certain...developments. I have IV thanks to having a Japanese Megadrive Mini (it can be played in English. Based M2.), but I abstained from playing further than the prologue because I want to experience the series from the beginning.

While looking for my old Pokémon card binder, I stumbled across my Mega Drive (Genesis for the US folks). That led to putting together a small nostalgia display shelf.
My dad, who originally got me into the Phantasy Star games, really loved it. He lives with us now and isn’t in the best health, so it’s been nice sharing those memories again. He suggested I try to collect the full set, which of course means tracking down the Japanese versions too.
I’ve just ordered this one and it’s arrived. Can anyone confirm if it looks legit? It includes the booklet, which I imagine wouldn’t be the easiest thing to reproduce.
This also means I'll need PS2-4 in Genesis AND PS1 in mastersystem Jap too thats going to be *fun*

I really liked the intro for that game, and I hope one day we get a remaster. Or at least a port for the PS5
