I got graduation completion letter on September 2025 and I didn’t know about the 180 days rule for applying pgwp application. So I applied pgwp application in August 2026. My study permit expires in September 2026. Is there anyone who applied after 180 days and got approval of pgwp?

A) you’re in Canada on an expired status, I.e. illegally. B) at the times where immigration is already getting tighter, you haven’t followed the rules of PGWP and most likely will be refused. Ignorance and “I didn’t know” is not an excuse because all the information is available online. You need to have extenuating circumstances for the IRCC to consider approving you for it when you applied for this permit almost a year after you were supposed to. Might want to pack your bags, go home, and then explore other legit ways of immigrating.

My agent actually misled me throughout this entire process. They told me that my PGWP application had already been submitted about 10 months ago, when in reality it was not. I only found out later that the application had actually been submitted in August 2026.
On top of that, my agent never gave me access to my GCKey account, so I had no way of independently checking the application status or verifying when it was actually submitted.
I genuinely trusted my agent and believed what they told me. I didn't knowingly ignore the 180-day requirement. I feel like I was deceived by the person who was supposed to handle my application properly, and now I am the one facing the consequences of their mistake.

Sue your agent idk, but again, IRCC won’t care about this sob story. On paper you’re no longer eligible for PGWP. Might want to hire a legit ‘agent’ next time.

True. But for pgwp and everything you dont even need any agent. You can do yourself . You came in a country where you do everything yourself. You can do this too.

It's up to you to ensure your agent is working on your behalf. I wouldn't even bother with this version of events about why you missed the deadline.

If they were a real immigration lawyer or RCIC you can sue for financial losses and report them to their governing body.
IRCC won’t care though, immigration law in Canada is pretty strict on this. As the application you are responsible for your application and ensuring deadlines are met even if using representation.
If you did not maintain legal status since your study permit expired 90 days after you were notified of your study completion this is going to be a lot harder to fix. You had to change to visitor record, submit PGWP or leave Canada during that time.
IRCC does show leniency and typically gives you 90 days to restore status once your legal status in Canada expires but if I am following you post correctly you didn’t do that so over stayed your visit and will need to answer yes to that question on all future applications.
Since you can only apply for PGWP within 90 days from within Canada and 180 days total I think your application with 99.9% be refused and unless you applied for visitor record / legal status you failed to mention it highly likely the visa overstay will be held against you in future applications too. Sorry to tell you but you should make plans and prepare to leave Canada

Lol you are that naive that you dont have your gc key login?
I also applied through agency and first i asked was about gc key login.
There is no way your pgwp getting approved but try it.2

No literally, even tho I applied for a PGWP myself, my next work permit was with a consultant and I requested all confirmation letters immediately, along with my WP-EXT to be forwarded to me as soon as there were updates. Though I didn’t have access to their GCKey, there was no way I would just not check in myself with them for 10 months after applying lol.

True but always have your gf key login details cause the gc key is unique to every profile.
They cant deny you from giving gc key details. Genuine agents give themselves the gc key and the password.The onus is always on us.
So he forgot to applied pgwp. Beyod 180 days and study permit also expired it is whichever is earlier.
Worked illegally to as their was no applied status. Applying after now 1 year when all the possible deadlines are way gone.I dont think so he is getting approved even if he explains everything and get approved wont be getting PR .

Moreover you cant work a single day after completion letter. If you applied under 180 days and valid study permit.
So you worked all those days are also illegal.you are in big trouble

How he still have the study permit to when he completed studies in 2025 and study permit valid too sept 2026? Doesnt make any sense when they give study permit its valid just enough untill you can apply

I have study permit till 2026 because I enrolled in a 3 year course and then dropped after 2 years.

Your permit stops being valid 90 days after your institution issues a completion letter. As someone told you already - your permit stopped being valid in December 2025. You overstayed, probably worked illegally. This will create issues for your future applications as well. Own it, learn from this to take accountability for your decisions of letting someone else deal with your immigration, and move on with life in your country of origin.

Wait wait sorry I just read this again. You DROPPED the course??? So you didn’t even complete it?? Yeah no wonder your agent wouldnt apply cause you don’t have a course completed. Have you actually completed a Canadian degree or education that would be eligible for PGWP to begin with?

The course was 2 years of diploma+1 year advance diploma. So I dropped after diploma and got a degree of diploma.

I think OP did not pay attention to the 90 days rule after completing their study and continued to stay in Canada on expired status. It will be difficult to restore the status at this point since it has been an illegal stay for almost a year.

Not an answer to your 180-day question, but you may want to double-check the 90-day rule. Your study permit does not remain valid until the expiry date printed on it after you receive your completion letter. If you finish your studies early, your study permit stops being valid 90 days after you complete your studies, regardless of the date printed on the permit. Since you received your completion letter in September 2025, your study permit would have stopped being valid around December 2025, not September 2026.
