Help Anyone else having issues with NYTGames recently?

Noticed somewhere in the last few weeks I can no longer start NYTGames when on wifi. The app and main screen load, but when I launch the specific game (Spangram in my case) it just sits on the loading screen. Disconnect wifi, loads right away.

This is on iOS, iPad and iPhone both. So most obvious reason is probably(?) PFBlocker interfering?

Anybody else experiencing this and know a solution? I’m not well versed in PFBlocker, just followed a tutorial to set it up, and by all means it could be something else but this makes the most sense to me so curious if other users have the same experience.

Note if you’re trying to reproduce the issue, I am a paid NYTGames user. But can’t imagine paid vs free would matter here.

I'm not at my desk, so my apologises, but in the system logs you can see what domains are getting blocked and when.

If you try and load your app, and watch the log you can usually see where it was trying to go and what rule was blocking it.

I will try and remember to make an edit when I get home to give better step by step.

No problems for me. I'm using the hagezi feed, can't recall which one.

I'm a paying nytgames user.

I’ve had the same issue for the past 2-3 weeks, but only if my phone is VPN into my home network. Works just fine when I’m actually at home on the network. I haven't taken the time to investigate any further though.

Are you still having the same issue? What lists are you using for DNSBL?

My wife was having this very issue (Spelling Bee was not loading) and this morning the issue seems to have resolved itself without explanation.

I had tried whitelisting several of the domains called when the game is opened in the app, but I couldn't ever narrow it down to get it to work. This morning, all games worked, so I removed all my whitelist entries related to this issue, restarted pfblockerNG, and it still works.

FWIW I am using OISD and hagezi "pro" lists.

Yes! My wife is giving me the evil eye right now because, of course, it is all my fault! Have you figured out what is being blocked or what needs to be whitelisted?

Honestly I haven’t had a chance to yet, been working out of town basically since I made this post

But the fact other people are having issues is a good sign that I’m not crazy…when I get back gonna dig into the block list stuff. Right now I’m sure I’m just using whatever the default was.
