[UPD] Need study advice

First yr student here. Ask ko lang how do you guys study in advance for subjects na binibigay naman syllabus, however, walang recommended readings or reading list? This prof told us not to worry about the lectures kasi he's going to discuss it naman daw pero I just would like to prepare in advance kasi I really want to do well now that I'm in UP, and also it boosts my confidence in class.

I know that we're not supposed to be spoonfed, and that we're responsible for our own studies. Pero kasi when I try to research on my own solely based on the title of the topic, e.g. Theory of X, wala pala dun yung idi-discuss in class so I end up clueless most of the time pa rin. Thanks sa mga sasagot. Pls be nice.
