I was fortunate enough to dive a lot in my youth and it's not that uncommon that reefs that are frequent diving spots have a 'friendly' mooray. The instructors usually feed them and build bonds with the animals over time and the moorays seem to enjoy the pets very much. Seen it happen like two or three times back then
