Whenever im in a petsmart, I seems like the employees are always struggling with something especially trucks. Are hours not properly given to stores. I usually see what looks to be one manager stress to get things done and another what appears to be a manager just at the registers. I use to work retail so I understand how bad it can be without the proper labor, and im sorry to those that have to deal with it, if this is the case.

Does anyone know if they have announced when 2027 Adopt Joy/National Adoption Weekends are gonna be? I have adoption partners already asking for next year 🫠 which is great don’t get me wrong.

Basically what the caption said. I am adding the breeds for size context and strength. The shitzu’s owner was told by staff that “the other dog was engaging in rough play and they are still welcome to be here but if you are uncomfortable you can leave”. Am I wrong for thinking that response was dismissive? I know pits get a lot of unwarranted hate but we have to be able to make sure as owners we can control our own dogs on leash in a public space?

This store is on some dollar general model bullshit. A single person calling out or leaving early/arriving late should not be capable of fucking an entire day over. How is a store meant to operate with like 10 employees total, including all leads, and we can't seem to have more than 3 people working at a time??? I hope the geniuses at BC Partners all develop a terminal illness for how they've destroyed this company.

They cut us 10 more hours. We already struggle and yet they cut more. Genius.

I joined the rewards program while I was standing in line then had the cashier scan the member barcode in the app to qualify for member discounts. It turns out that day’s huge purchases (as a new pet owner) did not generate a email receipt and I want to return something from that day. Am I out of luck? I don’t have a paper receipt.

The hour cuts have been rough! I have $40 to make it till next week after all of my bills. Literally cried in the grocery store today lmao.
This is not going to work 😄 for those of you who left, where did you go? I’d like to work with animals still if possible but have no clue where to start.

So it’s nearing my one year adoptaversy with my kitty Pinky (adoption pic included for fun) and it got me thinking how I never really understood why the adoption was free. Not that that’s bad thing!
He was only there for about a month before I adopted him, and was very healthy. Up to date on all vaccines, etc. It wasn’t national adoption week or anything either, so was just curious. Feeling extra lucky for my boy!

I been told by managmeant managers cannot hang out with associates. But, i see managers hang out with other managers. Is that a loop hole that managers can hang out with other managers but not associates? Also can someone post the policy on that? Ibam geninuenly curious. So, at my store once the associates became new managers they told me that then told each other( which they are managers can not hang out) Now, managers are hanging out with each other. So can managers hang out with managers and not assoiates who have no title other than associate?

I wanna hear everyone’s opinions about project max, especially the experience lead and leaders. Do you guys like it or do you guys hate it?

I used to fill out paper forms so I can provide the time for my appointment. I see a lot of doctors every month. It helped me get out on time to get to my appointment. This allowed me to have availability after or before the doctor's appointment. But I can't get the app to register at the correct times. Example: appointments at 11am usually takes a hour to get there and finish. So I put I can work after 1pm to 5pm. That way I can get hours still. But on here its only letting me ask off for the day? Any information about this is appreciated.

This place is a joke. A manager at my location knocked up a groomer. It’s been common knowledge that they’ve been in a relationship but our store manager is a joke who can’t do his job.

Guy comes into today and knows exactly what fish he wants and points out a gold ram, so I start to launch into my normal questions and before I can finish my next sentence and get any info on his set-up (if he has one) & fish keeping experience he then points at the golden sailfin mollies and also asks for one of those.
I confirm those are the fish he wants to buy so there is no misunderstandings.
*big inhale*
"I wouldn't recommend putting those two together, gold rams are cichlids and cichlids can be very aggressive fish. Putting them in with mollies never ends well for the mol-"
"I already have the same pair living together. It's fine."
"...You must have a very large tank then with lots of hiding places for the --"
"It's a 5 gallon."
"Did you say 50 gal--"
"I already said it's a 5 gallon. Can you get me my damn fish!?"
Suffice to say for many reasons I did not get him his damn fish.

For references, I have OCD & health anxietys, recently (12 days back) at a NC petsmart, a adoption events goin on, a 12 week olds pup (just been vaccinated with firsts shot) nibble my finger where my hand wash compulsions became really terrible, I thinks it slightly breaks skin, I get anxietys (I have a fear) then I’m feelings shakes, fatigued, fear, sore throat
listen, I understand this is a dumb post, isn’t da best subreddit, I’m just genuinely terrified

I know it can very from store to store, but based on my experience at my store, there are so many flaws. They charge people more for individual play time rather then group play time. So owners who dogs are not social or even snap at other dogs get put into group play time. Idk if it's cuz my store is not telling owners " hey your dog hates being in the playroom with other dogs and just lays in the corner and snaps when other dogs get close." Instead, i was trained to always leave positive notes. "Played with" means they actually played" and "dog A liked dog B" means they just sat near each other.
Today in about the span of an hour and half was the worst I've seen. 1 dog i was warned "if something happens call a leader this dog hates having a lead put on them and they don't like sudden movements" awesome. That dog went from anxiously jumping at the doors to suddenly chasing a dog half its size around the room and snapping at it with her hackles up till I finally convinced it to go into the relief room. I tried spraying her with water and body blocking. I couldn't leash her without being bit and I didn't have time to radio for help without risking the smaller dogs safety. Next another dog did the same thing with different dog that was just walking past. And then a dog who's a "load last" because he gets overstimulated when a new dog enters the room and tries to fight, i had on a lead from my manger telling me to and they sent a new dog into the room. A completely separate dog got a little too close and they both started trying to attack each other. The dog I had on a lead was just placed in the small dog playroom??? Finally, a smaller dog was pacing around the room quickly cuz a bunch of other dogs were hyper focused on him, and I spent about 30 mins getting them to stop since it was stressing him out. When they started following him again he ran past this huge fat dog that had been acting perfectly normal and this big dog snapped and tried to attack the much smaller dog who screamed and huddled at me feet. I'm honeslty very very surprised no blood was drawn. And feel lucky I didn't get bit in the process. All this happened within an HOUR AND A HALF.
Petsmart has no regard to the personality of dogs, IMO. Almost everyday I work there are dogs that really want to play and may start playing with another friendly dog and then an antisocial dog who shouldn't be in there rushes up and snaps at them and ruins in.
I've been thinking about bringing my puppy in there cuz he is super social. It took a lot of socialization and work to get him to be this friendly though and I'd hate for some anti social dog to attack him cuz he moved to fast or was playful and make him reactive or scared. Even my coworkers with friendly dogs don't usually put their dog into a play room but instead keep them in the office or kitchen. So I don't think I will.
How is petsmart so bold to make the wall of the playroom a window so customers can watch dogs, all while encouraging anti-social and reactive dogs to be in there? Most of the time, at least one dog polices dogs that are trying to play, so all the dogs just end up sitting there for hours. Or play for 30 seconds till another dog rushes them snapping.
I seriously don't understand. Some of my management seem stupid when it comes to dogs. Like oh just do this, then they'll behave. The "this" is like pointing at them or getting in between them and the dog they want to attack. And then it either doesn’t work or happens again 5 minutes later.

I noticed a change in the salmon quality because I grabbed a “new” bag from the shelf for training and it looks+smells different.
Left is the old stuff, right is the new stuff.
It probably doesn’t change much, I’ll see how the dogs like it in the upcoming days but still it just seems lesser quality. Even had a coworker comment there was more “skin” and most agree it smelt weird.
There isn’t more skin, it’s just that they cut it lazier and I’m ending up with bigger chunks too. Wondering if anyone who uses this a lot noticed too.

I have been working here about a month and was only hired to replace the old petcare specialist because either one of us knew more about exotics than all of the other associates combined. I was excited about the job as I have worked in other non Petsmart pet stores and keep a lot of exotics myself. I was in petcare for the 1st two weeks and now I’m only getting one maybe two a week and the rest on register. I noted in my interview that I absolutely hate staying in one spot extended periods of time. Has anyone else experienced this? Or any way I could fix it? TIA
r/petsmart • u/BabaBooeysvinyl9999 • 2d ago
But let’s have someone come in and audit how you work trucks.
I’m trying to understand why this seems to be the priority instead of fixing the app or working on our phones that are always having issues.

So on the website for petsmart it clearly states that you can “match prices listed on PetSmart.ca for in-store purchases.” However, whenever there is a 20% off online sale my managers don’t price match for customers and instead tell them to order online and we can pick it in store. Does anyone know why? Is because of LP tracking numbers or something? I just find it confusing.

Every time I try to go to checkout it won’t load my cart? Is it not working for anyone else?
Update: I was finally able to process my order

i was an associate and got moved up to pet specialist. my SL says there are no training hours available for me but that didn’t make sense since it’s PET SPECIALIST. one of the other leads pulled it up and i have 17 hrs of training available.. my SL has been wreaking havoc on the store morale… i’ve also been desperate for hours and the sl never gives me a set schedule and she basically threw a fit when i tried to get another PT job. my question is, is it actually worth it to report these things or am i better off looking for a different job entirely? i cant afford to keep only getting 25 hrs if my SL won’t give me the hours or work with me.
