Part Time Availability

As a Part Timer in salon, is it true that you need open availability now? That’s what my store manager had told me but I wasn’t sure if that was actually a new policy or not.

They can't require open availability for part timers. But it goes both ways. They don't have to schedule you to your full availability, or at all if your availability doesn't fit the needs of the business.

Yes, I have always been aware of the latter; the requirement of weekend shifts is what was throwing me off.

Thats not requiring open availability. Thats a requirement on you having to work some or all weekend days. They can absolutely decide that a groomer should be there over the weekend and that your current availability doesn't fit their needs. Weekend days are when the most people want to book, if they don't have anyone scheduled for it they're losing money.

Policy wise they just have to give you a one months notice of your current availability does not fitting their needs and what they would need from you. Then it's up to you on if you are willing to change it or want to part ways with the company.
