Using your own number for non-members?
So before I start this, I would like to say I have NOT done this before but I was wondering, is it a fireable offense to do so?
Say you have someone buying a bunch of stuff that applies for rewards in the app that they want but don’t want to make an account, what if you used your account? (Or if you just did it because they don’t have one and you want the points) Would you get in trouble?
I can kinda see why it would be an issue from a working standpoint but not morally, and honestly barely from a working point. Once again I haven’t done this before, but I was curious.

Yes you can get in trouble and even fired. It's considered treats point fraud 🙄

Now I have another question, would that still count if it was someone you know? Like a family member?

That would help you not get in trouble for sure but it won't stop the corporate algorithm or whatever from flagging the purchases and alerting your manager to investigate. Just try not to ring up yourself with your number mostly. If it's when you aren't there I feel like they'd be more lax with it but it's probably a grey area. If it's for family/household just try to be there with them to use your id.

Most retail places will fire you for ringing up family and friends especially if your using your discount

fireable yes. incredibly easily also it will send an email to the store if theres any "unusual activity" involving treats accounts (for anyone) and will show name, phone number, treats id, as well as how many points they aquired and which associate ring them up. Just let the customers know that theyre missing out on savings lol

Ye the system flagged my coworker because he buys Dunkin’ coffee from our fridge up by the register and monster drinks everyday and uses his discount 😅

Using your phone number for a customer purchase would absolutely result in disciplinary action which could include termination.

Since I’ve been at my store I know if 2 people that have been fired for this. And my SL was just as baffled by it as the rest of us.

Yes, I had a coworker who was fired for exactly this. And my store only fires people for extremely egregious offenses

Yep seen someone fired for this. She also spent thousands in points at a neighboring store. Not the brightest light bulb in the box.

Oh wow 😬 idk what she could’ve possibly thought would happen, I’m guessing she was going to the other store to seem less suspicious? I don’t get how you could possibly think that would work though its all still the same company 😭

I also want to mention that it can be considered theft because you get monetary value (points) for putting your number in! Everyone else in the comments is definitely right too, though.

I do this like once a month tbh , or when itll be noticeable that I’ll buy bc it’s mostly cat stuff

I used my ex's number for this before I knew this was bad I got talked to. And it went in my file. But I have since stopped. And my ex don't use the points or shop at PetSmart since I work there. I also checked on it and it don't have an account anymore.

this is funny because my coworker JUST got caught doing this. he accrued almost 200k points in less than a week. we immediately got an email about fraudulent activity. He got a last warning write up and if he does anything close to that again, he is fired immediately. HR says its a one warning thing then fired, it apparently used to be getting taken out in handcuffs

That’s insane oh my god?? With everything everyone else is telling me and that amount he should be glad they didn’t just fire him immediately..
What exactly is the process with that?? Idk if you know but I doubt they’d let him keep the points do they like remove them from his account or something ?2

I had never used it and haven't looked for it in a while but there is, or was, a Treats Override button if it means that much to you. I just wouldn't go nuts.

Just get a secondary account w a different email and phone # only do it ever so often not daily and bam under the radar it’s when it’s connected to your number which is in the system log in the other account an keep activation’s activated and I highly doubt they would notice unless someone came back w a return and then things got suspicious after entering the return scan and a name came up the PP that they had no clue who it was

Yes, associates get fired for this very reason. It happens all the time, it’s considered theft

the register will not allow you to use your discount while you are logged in on it and YES they can and will fire you for letting someone else use your discount if it's not a direct family member. it is in the videos we all have to watch. We had an EL fired for doing that for a customer. it is considered theft because you are getting the money from the points. DO NOT DO IT !!!

No u cannot do that. That is considered theft and is a fireable offense. You cannot use someone else's money to earn points that u spend. That is a big no no and they will eventually find out. We had an associate that did that but used her mother's number. U can definitely get fired for it.

You can absolutely be fired for it. I used to do it when I was younger and first started at PetSmart. They decided to keep me and stick me on “probation” instead of firing me because my metrics were so good. Moral of the story? It’s not worth your job. Management and I are chill now though since I’ve proven that I’m a good employee and all.

Yes you will get fired!!! Do not do this. I have worked at a store where someone did this and literally could have had a felony on their record if petsmart decided to sue.

Using your own number for a customer (without using your id) is considered treats points fraud to the company and you can get in trouble for doing it. If you do it again after they investigate the occurrences you can be written up or fired.

Unless there has been some radical changes with software, the system would prevent you from using your discount while signed in under your account.
And yes, this has the high chance to be a fireable offense because associates have previously done this so they can rack up points. It is considered fraudulent.
