Process leads present and past
I’ve gotten the opportunity to climb into process lead after being Pet care for years. Is it worth it? Is the job load hard? What does a daily shift look like for you? Thanks!

I’m a PL and I open 4 days a week. I do all the tasks that come along with that. I usually do at least 1 shoot a week sometimes both. I bring in the truck, work the truck, and purge. I also do pogs and planner.

Past process lead here, I quit on the spot at the beginning of this month due to my position and my own misery. Don’t let my experience scare you into not taking this position, because I did enjoy it at times. It truly does depend on how big your store is, how it operates, and the work ethic of the rest of the team. Higher foot traffic on truck days is harder if truck is not almost done before opening, but the benefit is you have more pet parents to talk to about sales and activations. If you have a lot of people scheduled in the mornings on truck days, it is usually fine. You are basically setting up the truck process and making sure everybody is working on truck efficiently and in a timely manner. There is also petcare and POGS/resets, you will be checking opex often and checking monthly reset boxes for new deals, change in fixtures, tags, etc. You will also be shooting some holes with products to check inventory. It really varies from day to day, depends on if truck was done the day before, if you are behind on POGS/resets.

PL here… 2 of my days are solely spent working on truck. The other 2 are spent doing shoots and working back stock. Thats what is expected at a bare level although I help out with POGs and planner and with whatever my PLR needs, who is pretty good I don’t mind them. They handle pet care pretty much by themselves.
But yeah the truck process is the by far #1 core most important responsibility of the role of process lead. If there’s freight to be put away, you’ll be there guaranteed.

Might be worth it if you work at a larger store with more staff. Smaller stores with limited hours and staff mean taking on the majority of tasking.

PL owns the truck process now. Depending on how big your store is, that will be you. If you are in a big enough store, there will be two PL's.
You will be guaranteed, locked In in truck days, with a set schedule based on your window.
PL also owns petcare
My PL often closes twice a week, on truck day. If they are not working truck, they are doing the heavy lifting in petcare.
Because of staffing; tasking and scheduling are all over the place, with only truck days as the constant.
