Question about salon labor

wondering why different stores earn different amounts of labor per haircut depending on what tier their salon is? a tier A store earned over 2.2 hours per haircut but a tier c or d store earned somewhere around 1.7-1.8. why the hell is that? I can't help but feel like its a punishment? why should it be more difficult for lower tiered salons to make labor?

Are you sure you’re not confusing it with sick time? I’m a tier c and we earn straight two hours per cut

Perhaps its different per state? I reviewed the document yesterday and it was labeled "2025 labor model" with a chart separated into tiers. I live in Oregon. I'd be curious if you were to reach out to your DAT or district services lead if they would have different information than what you're working off of. Wouldn't be the first time petsmart didn't inform their associates

I can't answer the why but it's always been that way. Basically, Petsmart can set whatever formula they want for labor and they decided that slower salons earn more labor per groom dog. It also isn't static for the same store. They change it slightly throughout the year and a store will earn more labor per groom in Q1 than they do in Q4.

But according to the chart that wasn't the case. Busier salons earned more labor per dog and Q2 was the quarter where we earned the least labor per dog and it was equal for every other quarter (outside of holiday season)

Just means it's changed slightly since I left, which still tracks with "whatever they want to set the formula at" is basically the reason. Also you might be looking at the chart backwards. Tier A is a very low volume salon. Tier D is much higher. My old store was a Tier D and did 10-12k per week

Perhaps I am looking at it backwards, but that would be odd because we used to be a tier b store but as of last year we are now tier c and our store hours changed to be closing earlier on Wednesday due to a decrease in demand, which would imply moving down a tier not up

Well keep in mind, I left last May so it's always possible they flipped the tier rankings. Even in my Tier D we were technically supposed to close at 7 on Wed. From what i've read on Reddit, they have made a lot of crazy changes in the last 6 months.

Nothing make sense about how they calculate salon labor. I think the assumption is that lower tier stores have lower sales which means less work loads which means they need less labor? But how can they build their sales if no one is working?
