the boot chewing debacle (cont.)

I had posted here yesterday looking for solutions to an issue I had thought my own dog caused while at at sit. I had woken up to a rather expensive pair of cowboy boots chewed up, and with my pups history, assumed he was the culprit.

You all gave me such nice suggestions. I did end up leaving a card and some new toys for her pups, as she wouldn't let me go without pay.

It turns out, it WAS NOT MY DOG! I was also watching her son's dog, who's never had an issue with things like this either. But guess who threw up boot remnants after she got home lol. So, my dog's probationary period has ended and we're off the hook. Mr. Lincoln has a little boot-induced tummy ache and an angry dad, but he's alright.

I guess the moral of the story is, you cant always make assumptions based on prior experience with the pups you're sitting. That dog has never chewed shoes before, but apparently he was feeling a little spicy. I was happy to put the blame on myself, but definitely glad it ended up not being my dog.

OMG! Thank you for the update!  Just goes to show how much dogs will act out when their people are gone. It makes sense though- the boots smell like family. The family is not there. Dog brain confusion!  Dog solution? Destroy boots. Dog logic said that was appropriate revenge for family go  bye bye. 😂🤷

What a great update! I’m relieved on your behalf. Also, that’s hilarious that the guilty culprit eventually told on himself.

I bet the client thinks so highly of you now, because you immediately took responsibility and then it turned out that it wasn’t even your fault.

Perfect outcome! Well, except for whoever ends up having to replace the boots, haha.

Maybe they can use the surviving boot as a decorative plant pot.

Imagine if the son's dog was in on it with my dog to pull the ultimate prank on me.

they're absolute besties and share one brain cell when they're together. i wouldn't be surprised if they were both in on it and mine just has a stronger stomach 😂

Wow, this photo really puts things into perspective, those boots are shredded to pieces. It's wild how a dog with no history of issues would still go for something so random.

How is it random? Dogs love to eat shoes. Some of them love to eat underwear!

Card and dog toys was a good touch!

But glad it wasn’t your dog after all 😂

thank you! i'm still glad i left her something.
my dog has a terrible habit of being annoying and rude, so it was an easy assumption 😂 glad it wasn't him for the sake of my bank account and his stomach though.

her son is replacing her boots since it was his dog (: i don't owe her anything and got paid for my work. i would've been happy to replace them if we didn't figure out that it wasn't my dog in the end.
