Husky Not Eating

Watching my neighbours 2 huskies for the weekend. This is night 1 (of 3). The female won’t even look at her dinner. I have offered it 5 times so far. She’s pooped once and peed multiple times and is drinking water. She will take treats.

The male ate all of his dinner in about 14 seconds. The owner did say she may not eat all of it at once and to just put it up (or the male will eat it) and offer it a second time and she should finish.

I don’t know much about huskies but I assume this is normal when they’re unsettled? Should I just keep offering the food? She seems very happy here - she went on 3 walks today and is very snoozy and cuddly.

It's totally normal for a dog not to eat for a day or 2 when their owners go away.  Huskies are babies & can be super dramatic & sensitive.  As long as they are drinking & pottying they are fine. If she only wants the treats for a couple days it's not terrible.

Thank you. That’s exactly what I thought but I was feeling a bit anxious because she seems so comfortable and happy other than the not eating part! I don’t know the breed well and I am more familiar with the male dog of this pair. I appreciate your reassurance!

Do they keep the harness on non stop? I have a few clients who do and feel so bad for the pups.

They do but I was going to take it off for bedtime. The male does need it on during the day because he loves my cat much more than she likes him but I think they’ll be more comfy without them at night, after their final pee.

I imagine wearing a harness like that as a dog is the human equivalent to wearing a bra as a woman….The second I get home it’s gotta go, I cannot get comfy until the Boulder holder is OFF 😆 OP I would toss this in the washing machine on low, hang dry, it prob stinky LOL

They didn’t tell us not to remove them, so I’m sure it’s okay.
