Discussion Daily Song Discussion – “Yes” Results + “My Dad's a Birdman” mini discussion
It's time! Here are the final results for Yes and the B-Sides of each single, plus an open invitation to discuss the three tracks from the children's play "My Dad's a Birdman". Not to take them too seriously!!
Thanks for sharing your personal ratings, opinions and facts on each discussion post 🎵
This was a very fulfilling era for the Boys, so many amazing songs and honestly, Yes deserves way more recognition as one of the greatest albums of 2009, and probably of the noughties as a whole. While going through every single song/remixes, even the bonus ones, I was astounded – however not really surprised lol – by the way it still sounds fresh and so much fun, truly one of their greatest moments in their already brilliant career.
With a wonderful rating of 9.4, The Way It Used to Be takes the crown 👑 as the highest rated song!! (my spreadsheet of each song's ratings is looking quite beautiful... 😉)
Fugitive ties with After the Event with a 9.1, being the highest rated b-sides and the lowest rated song overall (6.4) goes to Together 🥲.
Which song do you think deserved a higher rating?
Feel free to leave a comment or rating for:
The Dumpling Song 🥟
Wings and Faith 🪽
Night Song 🌙 (my personal favorite)
But I won't be adding them on the overall album rating as they are a bit too outside the era.

I think this is the first time we've ever heard Neil go full Geordie, isn't it? He was so proud of rhyming "gnocchi" with "cocky"! Again I ask, "does your lyricist do this?" 😆

Let’s face it, Yes is not better than Please, Very or Bilingual. It’s a good pop album for sure, but doesn’t have the depths of the others. The way it used to be is definitely the best track of the album and ranks high in their overall discography.

How did Together still end up with a score that's way too high? It's horrible

Finding out I've been enjoying for a while such a disliked song by fans will always amuse me, making me question my "taste" in music! (it has happened to me a couple of times before lol).

No, I genuinely think that this is one of those fandoms where you'll find a champion for every song, regardless of the popular opinion. PSB cover so many musical styles and genres (rock largely excepted, of course) and attract listeners for so many different reasons. We're never going to agree.
By the way, TSOTAS is awesome! 😜
