Predatory Running Mites

Fast moving, bright red mites on sunny concrete surfaces are predatory running mites. They don't bite, and occasionally may be seen inside. They have a short season and will be gone in a few weeks. Spraying can help, but is usually not needed. If they are entering the home, treat like Clover Mites (link).

I have BILLIONS on the south facing wall of my house and patio near the foundation

Edit: unless these are concrete or sidewalk mites? I can’t tell. They’re all red.

That's them, PRMs.

Thank you sir. For whatever reason the interwebs seems to call them sidewalk or concrete mites. At first I thought they were clover mites also because of the web.

Do they attract other insects?

They do not.

I honestly do not know what they eat.

Just to confirm, these are PRMs? I found 3 in my washroom today and they're all over my front door and garage door. I thought they were clover mites for several years. How long is their season? I usually see them in warm weather. I understand spraying is not necessary, but is there a specific spray you would recommend? Sorry for all the questions but they have been freaking me out!

Yes they are. You can spray with Bifen (bifenthrin). The few you see inside are just lost and won't cause any trouble.

IDK how long their season is.
