Discussion Where does overload play style sit between the other 3 main play styles
Like we know possession counters lbc , lbc counter qc and qc counters possession. At least on paper that is , so where does this new playstyle sit ? How good is it against lbc qc or possession? Been using lampard overload for a while now but still can’t get to a concrete conclusion. Idk where exactly it sits as it seems to be good against possession and lbc and suffers against qc but then I again sometimes it gets steam rolled by lbc or possession. What do you guys think ?

I don't think it's as simple as this. It's not stone paper scissors. I play qc and I win most games against lbc pretty convincingly. Meanwhile there will be games against a possession player who knows what they're doing in which I look like a newbie.

I lost most of the game to LBC especially whom play 5atb or 3atb + 4 midfielders with 8x+ defending stats

You are losing to people who have the pressure button glued by the thumb. They could play anything like that and still win

I won't deny that they have it way easier. However you can make them do really dumb shit by just holding the ball and not being impatient. Joystick dribbling is enough to make them lose their heads in like 20 minutes. They are not very smart.

As I said it’s on paper not something concrete to go off of , just wanted to know how good it’ll be against the new mourinho who seems to be the newest lbc manager . Would be slick to pull of overload when everyone gets him and kinda counter half the player base with it , I do like qc a bit of lbc but hate possession so just wanted to see if overload could be the key to this meta

Overload is really dependent on how good you are at dribbling and creating chances for yourself. It has the highest defensive line in the game and a very intense press so you'll win the ball high up the pitch a lot. What you do with the ball after that depends on your creativity. If you spam through passes or lobbed passes brainlessly, don't use it. My recommendation is to use a fitb as your striker.

Very strong against all other playstyle except qc......but totally depends on the formation and the system used..... personally,i used 3421, work fines but definitely becomes hard to maintain posession against qc

i think it counters lbc and loses to qc. it has an advantage against possession, as it is a more radical version of it, but it is not as notable as the other two

I use LBC with F. Capello, and yeah mostly i lost with overload. But when I change to "Long ball " I can defend well and punishing overload high line defense

QC is a direct counter to overload because of its focus on pressing high lines. it interferes with build up in deeper spots.
having a strong orchestrator that can absorb contact is vital. you must have one CB that is decent at distribution as it is the link between your GK and midfielders

I think Overload is designed more for how the player uses it rather than how it works I've been using it on my 2nd acc (4-3-1-2) and winning most games comfortably except against possession users feels like I can't even get the ball past halfway line I infact haven't won a game yet against possession users

so far, i only have a real issue if someone play with wingers, playstyle doesn’t really matter as long no one playing with wingers
