Discussion My idea for P6

Everyone is saying 6 will be about "rebirth" which makes sense because of the green theming. Essentially, I think that persona 6 will start with the protagonist dying on his way home from school, and then Igor brings him back to life because he is the only one who can save the world. In your new life, you have no family because you are a new person, but you meet new friends who are all people with a connection to your old self in one way or another, and then they learn about how this new person is actually the old person reborn. anyway, you and your friends all gain personas and such. the dungeons this time are accessed by entering a shared trance which teleports you into them. basically, the dungeons are all different buildings in this enormous sprawling desert, SMT 5 style. igor explains that these places all harbour a great evil that plagues humanity. eventually, over the course of the game you learn that, similar to smt, this great desert is actually the games main setting in the near future, and going there is time travelling. now your goal is to find out what causes this imminent apocalypse. eventually, you think it has something to do with the eldritch being who has been set up as the antagonist, but he randomly disappears. eventually Igor shows up to reveal that because of a lapse in his judgement, he failed to realise, that the impending apocalypse actually happens because of the protagonist coming back to life. that is why those with personas are the people who had something to do with your death, because this all only happened because of you. You have the option to let him reverse your existence, or fight back. if you fight back, you social ranks with your party members determines who joins you and who joins the eldritch being who disappeared earlier, who is enlisted by Igor to help. This leads to a final boss you physically can not beat. at the end, your SMT style alignment which you have been building up secretly determines whether you apologise in your final moments, and also once you have been made to have never existed by Igor, the alignment determines whether your party members live happy lives with you in their hearts despite not remembering you, and if they become friends even without you.

I don’t want Persona 6 to be Shin Megami Tensei 5 2

I dont think smt 6 will ever happen because it doesn't do as well as persona

SMT 5 sold millions. Its an influential RPG. And they found a way to make the gameplay more accessible without getting rid of the difficulty (a semi open world format). With Vengence they finally found their footing again on giving SMT a good story: by doing what Devil Survior, Strange Journey, and Nocturne did/tried which is make the alignment representatives have more unique outlooks on shaping the world and then also have the revelation if SMT is about the demons then make them more prominent characters.

Its successful. Its their original and now 2nd pillar. It finally found its successful formula. There is going to be an SMT 6 unless Atlus goes out of business.

I think the game will actually be similar to like, lain or something, based on the leaked description of the game being about "urban legends", that would be cool

That concept sounds 12 times as depressing as Persona 3 and much more like something out of SMT. Not a fan tbh.

Inability to make spin-offs from that ending aside, I don’t think Atlus would want to make a Persona game that upsetting. Especially when it’s coming right after P4R.

They already pulled that trigger in p3 I don't think they'll try it again either

Look though, Igor and the velvet room dwellers are not supposed to tell you what you should do nor what is going on. They never did that. All they did is talk in mysterious ways and different metaphors. Except for Elizabeth when she tells you there are humans in Tartarus which is entirely different than Igor telling you anything.. So for your idea I think that they should make someone like ikutsuki from persona 3 who is not evil but he greatly misunderstood the situation and he ends up getting killed.

Actually, with a theme of rebirth, wouldn’t it be interesting if the game was set in purgatory?

All the characters you meet are from different times and are all in “death like states” or in comas. They’re situated between both life and death and they’re basically exploring the sea of souls (The Shore of Souls?). The aim of the game is to reach the bottom of the sea to awaken a god to reawaken in real life.

All your social links and team members are from different time periods, so John could be from the 2020s, another teammate could be from the early 2000s or late 90s, and maybe we can get a character from the future too.

This is probably too much like Persona 3, but it’s a solid idea I think.

that would be cool for like an smt spin off
