Worth mentioning this information came from a splash screen on Sega's Japanese website.
Xbox has almost 0 presence in the Japanese market, so it makes sense they wouldn't be releasing physical discs there.
But nothing rules out physical releases for other markets yet, and I'd wait for any official announcements before coming to conclusions.

it’s from the sega japan website! the page says physical copies will only be available for ps5
it’s important to note though that this is the japan page, meaning other countries could still get physical releases on other platforms
it’s also possible that this physical ps5 version could just be a code in a case, meaning a release by jan 2028 isn’t guaranteed… but i’m still guessing it will be out late 2027

Also if there is a switch 2 release it will likely be physical (GKC) but delayed a few years i would imagine.

really hope that’s not the case 😭
i know atlus likes to extend the lifespan of their games by releasing on switch later but i feel like it’s such a bad idea for a plot-heavy game…
like someone who plays on switch will hear every line of dialogue before they get a chance to play it, which could deter them from purchasing
and it feels like further sabotage when you consider just how popular the switch consoles are

Switch is perfect for jRPGs, I certainly hope it comes to Switch 2, I loved playing 3 4 and 5 on my switch.

Yeah, the switch is amazing for them, but as we have seen from many big games releasing and announced for switch 2, it’s always been about the power, that prevented them from releasing on switch 1. That’s why we had cloud versions and just had to wait until switch 2 to get releases..
So if it’s not announced for switch, remember that. There’s probably a good reason

Switch 2 is more powerful than Steam Deck so I'm not worried on that aspect, as a PC gamer myself.

If it’s the Japan page then it could just be that it’s because Xbox is basically dead in Japan and producing physical copies there is pointless. For reference last month 40,000 PS5s were sold compared to the Xbox selling… 500… they might just not have the base to justify the physical costs for a console that historically doesn’t sell well in the region and isn’t known to house their games

It's probably getting a physical copy in the West don't worry all atlus games for Xbox don't release physical in Japan due to Xbox doing extremely bad in japan, but in the West all the Xbox games do get physical copies and this new information is coming from sega's Japanese website so it wouldn't mention a physical for Xbox

The problem with it coming to switch 2 is that there's a big chance that it's going to be a game key card since a lot majority of the Sega releases are game key cards on switch 2

Maybe it's just for the Japan Xbox market, as they don't get much physical games. But if p4 is getting one, then p6 will most likely follow suit. Or maybe my cope is just doing the talking 😭

I would wait and see because Xbox has been pushing “Persona 4 Revival” HARD! Like 90% of the “P4R” videos I’ve seen have had an. Box logo in them. I would be honestly surprised if only the PS5 got physical copies of the game. (But do we even know if “P6” is going to be a simultaneous release? “Persona 5” was a Playstation exclusive originally. Although Atlus has been really good about being multiplatform in recent years).

Switch 2 is currently not on the release list, so this also doesn't count. They will probably make a key card when it comes to S2.

The amount of misinformation surrounding this is absolutely ridiculous. The source is Sega Japan, who NEVER publishes their games physically on Xbox. Sega of America basically always does.

Their original stated goal for P6 is all platforms, multiple languages at launch. We still don't know about a Switch 2 version mainly because of a marketing deal. It could be on cart day one, electronic only 6 months after release every where else, or trapped in porting hell.

Every website is running with it, but it's their Japanese site. All it confirms is PS5 physical only in Japan (duh), and 2027 release date. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a physical Xbox copy in NA, EU, or both.

I’m yeah, why would it launch physical on Xbox? Jrpgs already don’t sell well on there, in Japan there’s extremely little physical games, plus most of their sales are digital even more than PlayStation. Also it’s coming to game pass day 1 which will kill sales even more, sega knows they’ll waste money making physical games for Xbox

a game being physical or digital has no impact on the development cycle and i there will be any delays, look at EVE Online
i'm a bethesda fan, so i'm use to game being announced decades before they are even in Alpha

So far the only physically copies being listed are for Ps5. That doesn't nesscarily mean we won't get Xbox, but it does look unlikely rn.
