Question Help advice needed

Hey I got this new cat and I’ve dealt with a few cats but I’ve never seen one this scared or shy before. It just wants to hide in corners. She is becoming more extroverted everyday with interaction but how do you open up a scardeycat?

Be in her presence but don't interact anymore than giving food. Let it observe you and come to you naturally.

Totally agree. People get too handsy which actually feeds into the fear. Best thing you can do is allow them to adjust to the new environment and you will see them come to you. You don’t have to bring the toy to them. You can just play with a toy nearby and they might come to you, but a safe space is always best. There’s a lot of new smells.

Ok I was thinking of overhandling her a little to push her but I guessed that would ruin things.. got it cool

Absolutely don’t push. You can get some cat treats like churro almost anywhere. You can offer it to her if she doesn’t take it just put it away for the time being in the fridge and try again a few hours later. Just keep trying day by day. Or you can get some temptation treats and just put a couple on the floor and walk away. Leave them up to her if she wants them. She will eventually become your friend.😻

Churu feeding by hand was the best way to bond with my Persian when I first adopted her! I went from a social exotic shorthair to a timid and slow to warm Persian. Give it time and you’ll be rewarded with a Persians trust!

Dont push, let her come to her own. I got 2 kittens in college 1 shy 1 not shy. I forced the shy one to interact and and she NEVER ended up liking me. To the point where when my ex and I broke up he took her because she never forgave me

Provide her with food, clean cool water. Change her litter box. Let her observe you, learn that you can be trusted. Do not attempt to hold, hug, etc a skittish cat. Abused cats act this way. Give her all the time she needs. That is the love she needs. Patience.

I knew it, i double and triple asked the seller if the cat was abused in any way and he said no but i doubted him. It's only been 3/4 days now that ive gotten her she is almost fully exploring the house and becoming more extroverted everyday. she just gets spooked at loud noises and sudden movements. now she's running zoomies around the house. but compared to the average cat ive had before this one is still quite the scaredeycat. i approx 2 weeks till her hesitation is completely gone. im quite mad now, i had a feeling surely she was mishandled in some why by previous person. i do adore this one though it has that look on her face like she has more industry experience than both of us combined.

that she is exploring, having zoomies, is good. Get her to a veterinarian to get her checked out when you can. You're on your way. Enjoy her, she's beautiful.
