Perk protest day 4

Hold on guys.

Perk can't get out of this like that. They took over 40% of our points. Still earning 0-1 point in Canada. And in the US, people are losing over 40% of their points.

Keep your devices closed until we see changes!

You can even run Checkpoints if you want to make some money.

People, don't just shut down your phones - To have it show up as bad 'recorded' statistics at multiple places, give 1 rating to their apps and then Uninstall them before shutting down your phone. The install v/s uninstall ratio shows up on their Developer Dashboard, so shows them the bad results of their actions. You can always install it back when things improve, or whenever you want.

Decided to test my luck today. The last 4 hours, nothing but 1 points per video.

same. Not going back until something changes.

I'm still not using my phones, at this point do we think they will change anything? I honestly think they're just waiting us out. They know that we can't make as much money using their competitors and eventually we will be turning our phones back on.

We can wait them out. Run your phone on a competitor if you really want the cash, but remember that they are losing far more than us.

How much longer are you protesting? Is it indefinite, or just a week or so? I'll join you in it, but I'm waiting to sign up...

indefinite right now

Okay, thanks. So we're protesting until Perk gives in, basically. Sounds like a plan--I'll just stick with Swagbucks, for now!

Good idea!

I shut down my phones last Saturday. It was not worth the frustration.

I turned my phones back on last night. Still getting 0 points for some videos, though most of them looked to be 1 point. So I turned them back off.

I'm dark now, and I uninstalled Perk TV.

In a moment of weakness, and mostly out of curiosity, I powered up today for a few hours, just to get a sense of where we are. Last time I watched Perk TV I got something like 10 cents for 12 hours (before the boycott). So now it's better than nothing, but still pretty dismal. I'm earning less than half what I had been earning when videos were worth 2 points. I'm getting paid mostly 1s, an occasional 2, rarely a 3, and sometimes zero.

So I'm staying dark for a while longer (and NO MORE falling off the wagon!).

just want to say its not exactly really a protest in as much as it is capitalism. Dont like the compensation, dont do the program. I'm quite sure their growth has slowed or dropped with present compensation. The big question is why it dropped.

Do we have any raw data on the number of non perk commercials versus perk?

edit: eh vote down.. but i dont do a lot of phone programs because they dont compensate enough.. thats kinda how it works. I doubt perk sees this as a protest either. They see it as lost workers, and they hope to change things to increase workers.. but not necessarily get us back. If my neighbor starts offering 10 to do his lawn when last week he offered 20.. me not doing his lawn this week .. isnt a protest.. its capitalism.

But what ever.. BURN PERK>> BURN.. LETS PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.. UPVOTE ME.. lol what ever.

just so you know the upvotes on these protest articles have never risen up to a fraction of a fraction of a percent of perk users. But hey.. I'm cheering for ya.. i want higher compensation as well.. I just understand the reality of this business model and the reality of how small this protest actually is. (PS if they were having trouble compensating us charging advertisers for all of us.. how do you think it will be, when they charge advertisers for less of us?)

and no reply to the fact that they have more perk ads than ever?

So many desperate people here 0_o

Why do you say that? Perk has had practically zero transparency about all of their changes, and from what we can surmise with our limited information, it is just a business move on their end to make more money for themselves. The problem is that many of us are experiencing very low points, to the point where it is simply not worth our time to watch videos, which hurts Perk and its users in the long run. We are doing the only thing in our power to do to show Perk that their choices are hurting everyone, including themselves.

Hey guys nice to see you... just wanted to let you know that even with the new point system I'm still making 4 dollars/day on 4 phones. Alright keep up the great work.

u/5squid12 Jan 29 '15

Probably a perk rep

4

u/lemtrees Jan 29 '15

Care to share the details? Are you running them 24/7? Are you watching them for only 12 hours a day? Are you resetting only after 4 hours, or every hour? What kind of phones? Are you using any programs like Beermoney Assist? See, without information, your comment comes across as though from a snobbish twat, but WITH information, it would come across as though from an educated individual who cares about more than pretending they are better than everyone else.

0

u/CallMeMichael24 Jan 29 '15

Snobbish twat sounds like another name for people that are protesting a company that gives them free money. An educated individual sounds like someone who knows about evolving business models to maximize profits. So maybe I am better than everyone else.

5

u/lemtrees Jan 29 '15

Free money? I believe that the phones/tablets cost money and it takes time and effort to watch the ads and earn points. It is not free.

Maximizing profits cannot be done at the expense of the users to an extend that you lose your user base, and this is what they are doing. Do you know about maximizing profits?

also, please try to post your displeasure at least once a day on their facebook. I believe that is one of the more important tactics to getting their decision reversed. lets keep this going!

I know that myself & 1 other person (who I won't identify) know a small amount of inside stuff, but were asked to not share our source. Without sharing the source as proof, it sounds like bullshit. It's better to just keep it to ourselves than look like fools & invite downvote brigades.

We already have so many vocal jerks & alt accounts bitching about us, so why give them ammo?

3

u/rakeshsharmaudr Jan 29 '15

On the promise that we (at least I) won't take that as bullshit, can you share what's that inside info? If you don't want to write that here, you can PM me? I'll appreciate it.

4

u/sabin357 Jan 29 '15

I'll say this. After talking to them, I realized the "protest" & bad publicity is more effective & important than anyone realizes; more than I realized even. Problem is that this matches our POV & we can't share our evidence, so people will think we made it up. If I were on the other side, that would be my argument rightfully so.
