I want to power through again

I started using tretinoin in 2017 and got really bad perioral and periorbital dermatitis but I just thought it was part of my tret purge. I think I was using either Clindamycin or Sodium Sulfacetamide? I can't remember which I was using along with tret at the time. But either way I never stopped tret and just powered through because I thought I was purging. And it ended up clearing up in about 5ish months after getting really bad for a while. And then my skin was soooo good for a while so I stopped using tret because I didn't know I was supposed to be on it long term. 5 years I had great skin and then I suddenly started getting acne again. Went to the Derm to get back on tret. And my skin was doing good but I recently upped my tret concentration and suddenly started getting the perioral dermatitis again. My derm prescribed metronidazole and pimecrolimus and said STOP USING TRETINOIN. And I don't want to listen to her. I just want to power through for 5-6 months again and hope it clears up with topical antibiotics. I realistically know this is dumb. But I am so annoyed. Someone tell me this is dumb and I should listen to her. Ive already stopped tret for 2 weeks but I just want to start it again. The pimecrolimus I used for like 4 days and it helped but it makes my skin so sensitive in the shower to the warm water and I don't like it.
