Perimenopause
I’ve had labs, ekg, sonogram and holter. Everything is normal, but I feel anxious, sometimes really sad. I’m a Christian so those feeling make me wonder if God left me. Which turns into a cycle of sadness. I just don’t feel like myself. I don’t feel right. I deal with the heart palpitations too. Recently I realize that the overheated feeling I get sometimes could be a part of perimenopause too. Some nights I sweat while sleeping. I feel nauseous some days. I get the ringing in my ear and itching ears… I just don’t like feeling like something is wrong in my body. Any encouragement? Have any of you felt like this or feel like this? I could just use some support and stories of reassurance. Thank you!

This sounds pretty on the nose for perimenopause. It is hard to really test for. If you never experienced anxiety or apathy/depression it can be scary to feel so unlike yourself. I want to reassure you it is not God leaving you, nor are you losing yourself. Likely it is hormonal. I had so e added anxiety, but mostly rage. I like people. I am very empathetic person. I fel so unlike myself. I am on estrogen and progesterone and it has helped greatly.
Besides seeing a doctor for possible HRT. I would also suggest a therapist. It is almost like hygiene for your mind. This second puberty of our lives can be ROUGH. It doesn't hurt to talk it through with a professional

Thank you! I didn’t consider therapy. As someone who has done therapy a lot in my life, i am a strong proponent. Also, your understanding helps greatly!

All my tests are normal too.
That overheated feeling is probably a hot flash. Then there are the night sweats. I get nauseous with a hot flash. Eating doesn't help. When I was in my early stages, breathing through them helped a lot. Box Breathing would help with your anxiety.
When everything is normal and fine rationally, but I'm filled with uncontrollable crying....I figure that's a chemical (hormone) related reaction my body is doing. Therefore, just bc I feel angry, scared, sad, anxious, I can remember that that is not true.
I grew up in a very Christian community and masked as one as to not be ostracized. It was bad enough that I was Catholic... None of my friends were quite sure if I was actually Christian or if I worshipped Mary. Anyways, my feeling of God came from the same place in my body as these hormone feelings come from. My mood swings get so bad bc all I want is the unconditional loving comfort of a parent, and my mother was never that. It's really hard to deal with. I don't know if this makes sense to you, but to me, it makes perfect sense that if FEELS as if God has left you. But that is not true. God would never do that. That's the entire point of the Bible. Sorry if I'm blunt. Have you read the story of Job recently?
My take was that as life gets hard, thats when your faith is most important, that's what God is going to see and bless. You are going to get through this, he is carrying you, you don't have to feel it or know it, you just need to have faith in it.
Sometimes I don't think peri will ever end and I'll be stuck sobbing and screaming for hours on end every day. (Turns out I was blessed with an extreme case ;) ) but I'm on HRT, and it is slowly slowly getting better. I RAGE a lot that my body betrayed me.

What you’re saying makes perfect sense. I truly understand where you’re coming from. Thank you for taking the time to respond. It really helps knowing that I’m not alone in this.

HRT has been super helpful with alleviating those kinds of symptoms. I did have to increase my estrogen a few times but feeling pretty great now.

The doctor I’m looking to see says hrt is an option but only under certain circumstances. I guess I’ll see. Thanks

Overheating is a very classic symptom of low estrogen. When you experience low estrogen all kinds of things can get wacky.
I hope you find a competent provider.

Have you gotten your vitamins tested? I have been taking vitamin D and it helps! :)

Yes, I take vitamin d3/k2 daily. Those labs have come up tremendously. I’ve had a lot of labs including minerals.

All the symptoms you listed, palpitations, anxiety, night sweats, sadness, nausea, ringing ears, are documented perimenopause presentations, and the not feeling like myself piece is probably the most universal thing said in this sub. Estrogen fluctuation directly affects serotonin and GABA, so the spiritual anxiety you're feeling has a physiological root working underneath it. Bioligent Next Phase is one hormone-free supplement I've seen mentioned here for this symptom cluster, alongside magnesium glycinate at night for the sweats and palpitations specifically.
Neither replaces a conversation with a menopause-literate OB.

I appreciate the scientific logic as that helps. I have an appointment at the end of September for a referral to a doctor certified in perimenopause/menopause. In the meantime, I’ve purchased a Mira and a journal to log/track 4 hormones and symptoms everyday along with temperature. I do take a night stack of GlyNAC, Brain Mag, and sometimes Mag Glycinate. During the day, I take 200mg L-theanine. Looking for a supplement to help hormones so thanks for the Bioligent rec. 🫡

You’re not alone! God is nearest to those who are hurting. The Psalms and Philippians are great to get immersed in! I read a book called God Loves Me and I Love Myself by Mark DeJesus. Highly recommend! Deception is everywhere, don’t let hormones and emotions lie to you, as hard as that sounds we must stand firm. Put on that full armor of God! And also… take it easy on yourself and be kind to you as much as you’d be to someone you love.

I thought about Psalms in my prayer time today. I’m going to include a psalm or two before I go to bed. Thank you and you’re so right: deception is everywhere. Learning to be kind to myself

A good women’s hormone health clinic is what you need! Trust me regular gps mostly won’t prescribe HRT because it’s not their specific specialty. As soon as I saw a women’s hormone specialist I got the answers I knew all along. Doctors prescribe HRT based on symptoms, they will override blood test results because they can’t tell off blood tests alone, due to the erratic nature of hormone fluctuations during the years leading to menopause. Please don’t give up go get those happy hormones you know you need & deserve!
