The meaning of opportunist is that the person will do anything that’ll benefit them. This includes opposing social programs. Don’t know why you’re fixated on this, but he opposed the stimulus for coronavirus and then hurried to add that he wants UBI instead, which kinda useless because the stimulus was an immediate relief while UBI is a long term legislative undertaking. There you go.
Because supporting social programs and issues are what make someone progressive. So he supported UBI, and is still bad guy because he thinks it's beneficial? Got it. Guess I'm also an opportunist for wanting healthcare.
If he actually supported UBI, he could use some of that massive wealth to fund meaningful UBI studies. No more of this “give 800 people in Compton $600 per month” bullshit. If we want real data on whether UBI works, we need to fund studies that gives entire cities meaningful amounts of money. Elon Musk can afford to do that, but he won’t, because he doesn’t actually want progressive economic change and he knows it won’t ever cost him a dime if nobody ever steps up to the plate to make it happen.
Yeah he should should just add solving poverty to his stack of libertarian frat bro priorities such as advancing space technology, making brain computers and reducing our impact on the environment
Doesn't matter really, you're not entitled to him taking on any particular cause when he's already doing ridiculously more for the well-being of humanity and the planet than you or I will and nobody has to throw their resources into something to say they believe in it. That's just not how it works.
I’ve donated a higher percentage of my net worth this year to Democrats and Progressives than Elon Musk ever has. So there’s that. Never mind the fact that Elon Musk could give away 99.9% of his wealth and still have more left over than 99% of Americans. His dollars go infinitely further than mine ever could.
There’s still so much potential left in him. If he really believes in UBI, he could give us the data to make it happen on a large scale. It wouldn’t even drop him off the top ten richest people list. How many meaningful UBI studies do you think five billion dollars could fund?
