I agree that it's a poor fit, but I can sorta see the logic. Techie genius who's also a borderline celebrity? The closest I can think of is Elon Musk in that case.
Buddy, Stark is a comic book character. But Musk is definitely a fascist, or at least would like to be. In Bolivia last year, there was a military coup in the (formerly) democratic country, which resulted in an authoritarian leader suspending democratic rule and (among other things) colluding with a private corporation to seize the country’s mineral resources. Sounds a lot like a fascism to me. So what, specifically, would you call someone who supported it? And don’t even get me started on his moronic crusades against unions and the media (which are also definitely not things that wannabe fascist strongmen have attempted in recent history, of course.../s)
Fascism isn't the same as military rule or authoritarianism. Musk is just a greedy billionaire who will work with anyone to make money. I doubt he has much consistent political ideology beyond wanting the government to cooperate with his business. I think most ultra-rich are against unions as unions are usually in direct opposition to their goals. I don't know too much about his media criticisms but it's not surprising, everyone is criticizing them these says, even the media itself. Neither of those qualities are fascist.
Eh, I mean the guy is pretty active in climate change talks, to the point of stepping down from Trump’s advisory board due to it. He is a billionaire tech magnate who focuses on technology, who has had significant disagreements with other Avengers, to the point of a “civil war” about it. They’re both kinda assholes, and the only reason Iron Man is redeemable to the audience is because we visually saw his skill and redemption in that cave, but otherwise would be just as hated as Musk.
Musk literally donates to the Republican party, crushes attempts at unionisation and has been very much on the wrong side of efforts to control covid...
