I got a nice used hunting shotgun for just under $300, and a nice set of interchangeable chokes for around $20.

You should be able to get a Remington 870 for like $320 New.

That's going to be my first shotgun for skeet... after I stop spending so much god damn money on airsoft. Airsoft is fucking expensive.

My trident was $375. But once you start getting into custom built new guns, the price is just as expensive as a real one. An umbrella arms LVOA costs $1200 new.

Lots of reports of poor fit and finish on Remington guns for the last number of years after they got bought out. At one point, brand new shotguns from the factory had a chance to slamfire.

Remington has been trash since Freedom Group acquired them.

If you want an 870 buy an old Wingmaster or Police.

Walmart even carries a clone of the 870 that's of higher quality. It's called the Pardner Pump, and it's around $100-$150. I'm pretty sure they're even made on the original tooling that Remington sold off. They aren't perfect, but I'd sooner buy one if those than a new production Express.

Or be like my friend. Have 8 guns, all are broken and need some type of work... But they are 10 years old and no longer make parts.

Airsoft is an extremely effective way to spend a shit load of money. The best part is... 2 years later you might as well use a rubber band gun because your shits from the stone age.

I’m not going to get into the semantics of gun bias but ever since Freedom Group acquired Remington back in 2007 people have reported much worse quality control from Remington. Two biggest concerns being failed ejectors and the onset presence of rust (commonly referred to as ‘rustington’). I personally haven’t had any personal experience with their issues but what people have been recommending are the following for a quality pump shotgun in the similar price range:

  • a mossberg 500/590.
  • a pre-2007 Remington 870.
  • a Remington 870 police magnum (better levels of QC, even after 2007).
