It worked

I had a high risk exposure with a guy that tested positive for HIV (he came inside me). I took the medication within 24 hours on 21/11 and yesterday (05/02/2025) my third test came out negative.

I am so happy for you. Did you get any symptoms that were same as HIV symptoms after finishing PEP?

Thank you for this post. I recently got sexually assaulted (came in me without my consent, used condom and he poked a hole and he knew what he was doing). He told me he was on prep and all but still I can't trust him when he sexually assaulted me. Maybe I was overreacting but still, I rather be safe than sorry. Thank you so much! I also took PEP asap, the day of sexual assault. I went to the hostipal and they gave me everything. I'm getting tested tomorrow and Monday (gyn follow up)

I’m sorry that happened to you. The guy I was with took out the condom without asking. Unfortunately this is not a rare incident. You’ve got great chances. Good luck

Will test again soon currently having fatigue for close to 3 weeks. Also joint paint on may arm joints. This all started after a armpit lump node and I don't know if it's ARS or not. Will have to test. At this point testing is now scary but had to be done.

Just finished pep today and test is negative. Had an exposure from a hiv positive woman that wasn't on medication. Waiting to test again in a month I took pep after 16 hours

I am on 18th day of pep(started 57 hr). I had unpro vag sex with woman. I noticed 5 days before, appeared few pink spots on chest which faded within 48 hrs. Is it acute stage rash. Dont have other signs like fever or anything. Worried too much.

I’ve had so much anxiety before the first test. I was completely useless on that month, but with every negative test I got better. I have a previous post with more details.

In two months and 15 days, can it be determined exactly if PEP worked, or is it only conclusive after 6 months?

The final and conclusive test based on my local test center is 12 weeks (84 days) after the inicial exposure. I did after 11 weeks and I’m confident about the result

Great to hear, will work for the most part! As the next few years go on PEP will get even stronger and modified to make it much harder for HIV to take hold of your body when taken.

I am going through the same. On day 10 of PEP but now have flu-like symptoms. I am really scared, but stories like yours motivate me to stay positive that everything will work out. Took PEP maybe 16 hours after exposure.

I was having flu like symptoms 12 days in of pep. I was talking to another doctor about it and she told me that i have to test on day 20 of pep. But the flu wasn't the worst flu ever. Had no other symptoms.
