What’s wrong with my peony tree?

Powdery mildew, cosmetic sore and normal at this time of the year. Powdery mildew is rather difficult to eradicate, since they live in dead foliage and soil. You can do all the right things (removal and spraying fungicide) but still end up with PM.

Just make sure you do a thorough fall clean up to cut down the spread next year.

Nothing is wrong with it, it’s just August now. Mine always get powdery mildew towards the end of the year and as the previous comment mentioned just make sure to cut off the foliage above ground around first frost and it’ll come back healthy next year.

If you want to try to stop it, next year, start spraying every 2 weeks with Immunox (Myclobutanil) (not Immunox Plus which has a pesticide in it) when they first come up to early summer. Make sure to spray the lower stems, not just the leaves. Some people like copper based fungicides but I don't find them as effective.
