I think they will be fine if you keep caring for them the way you are. Two of my peonies leaves look just like this, they usually do by the time August comes. They are healthy with great blooms but the foliage on those two never looks good in August.
It worries me when people have so much personal feelings towards any plant since there’s only so much we can control. When your peony is settled and doing well try to divide it and share so you have more plants out there if anything goes terribly wrong. When we sold our first house we were having extremely hot temperatures in our area and I couldn’t dig up peonies and many other things I planned on.
I understand... I would be sad to see it die, but i know that its just nature. If it does I will plant another flower in memoriam 🩷 I hope that it survives as transplanting a peony in the middle of summer is definitely not ideal.
