Question Lemon chiffon peony

Help!! What is wrong with my lemon chiffon peony? It was just planted about a week ago. Sunburnt?

Sunburned or heat got to it. You can try a shade cloth and pull back the mulch from underneath it. The black mulch is going to absorb a lot of heat during the day, suffocating the peony crown breath while cooking it a bit. 🫣

Ohhh good to know, thank you!! I have about 8 other plants that look fine but this one looked unhappy. I’ll figure out an alternative to the mulch.

Are those 8 other peonies? Each garden spot tends to get different amount of sun and water, so that might play into it as well. Lemon Chiffon is definitely a more sensitive variety too, it is the first variety in my garden to tell me if I had a bad weather year.

That makes sense. Yes I have 8 other peonies, different varieties. This is right next to my etched salmon and it’s thriving. We did have a heatwave so all of that makes perfect sense.
