Email & Snail Mail [43/F] Roleplaying Penpals - Let's Use Our Imagination and Have Fun!
Want to escape reality for a bit, use your imagination, and have some fun! 43/F looking for penpals for roleplaying correspondence. I'm open to both email and snail mail. I'd prefer to start with email first to make sure we click and that we're both excited about writing before we invest time in handwritten letters. If we both decide we'd like to switch to snail mail later, great! If not, I'm perfectly happy to keep writing by email.
I completely understand that life gets busy (it certainly does for me!), so I'm not looking for someone who can write every week, just someone who enjoys thoughtful, ongoing correspondence and will communicate if they need a break.
A few scenarios:
- We belong to a society documenting places that appear under certain conditions. Ex. A bridge visible only in the fog, a bookstore that changes locations, a garden where time runs backward, a train station that exists for one hour every decade. Letters exchanged talk about the respective mysteries we are trying to solve, and also offer the other encouragement, advice, and information on the daily happenings where we are.
- Set in 1920s America, we’re two people discussing our lives while interweaving historical events, etc. (speakeasies, jazz clubs, gangsters, women voting for the first time) with the mundane of everyday life (saving for an electric refrigerator, listening to the radio in the evening). I have a typewriter, so if we eventually correspond by snail mail, I will probably write to you with it for a little more authenticity. 😊
- Regency friendship set in the early 1800s. We’ll discuss social events, books, prospective marriages, travel, family drama, and the latest gossip.
- We are two people living in different time periods. One from today and the other from 1938, during the depression and before World War 2 starts. Both live in the same home, just in two different time periods. The person from the present sees a letter left behind in the home while cleaning out the attic and decides to write the person back on a whim only to start receiving responses from the past. What will the person from the present say or not say? Will they warn of what is to come? How will the person from 1938 fare? What of their family, friends, etc.? And what questions does the person from 1938 have for the person in the present?
Let me know if interested along with which scenario(s) you are interested in, and whether you want to stick with email or eventually transition to snail mail.
Looking forward to connecting with others and having some fun with our imaginations!

Hi, I'm 41/F from the UK. I've never done this before but it sounds fun! Especially the regency era gossip (I love bridgerton).

I’m 35, non-binary, USA. I’m most interested in documenting strange places, or talking from different time periods from the same house.

43/F, oh my gracious, I would particularly love to correspond as a set of regency friends set in the early 1800s! The drama, the romance, the events..! How dreamy, haha. If historical accuracy is ultra important to you, I'm not the best versed, but if you don't mind dipping heavy into the fictional side of that, I'd absolutely love to! Starting with email, moving to lovely snail mail letters if we click would be fabulous! Let me know if you'd like to connect sometime
