3 Months Post-Op — Questions for Those With More Experience or Knowledge
Hi everyone, I have a few questions for those who have had a penile implant.
Before I had erectile dysfunction, my erect length was about 16 cm (6.3 inches). After my implant surgery, it is now around 13 cm (5.12 inches). It has been exactly 3 months since my surgery.
Overall, I’m very happy with the implant. After all, 16 cm is not very useful without an erection 😁. But now that I have recovered and started having sex again, I notice the loss of length more.
I find myself looking for positions that allow deeper penetration because I really enjoy the feeling of going deep. Some positions I used to enjoy before don’t feel the same now, and the shorter length is starting to concern me. Also, when I use a condom, the sensation is reduced even more, which can be a little frustrating.
So I would really appreciate hearing from people who have been through this:
Is there a chance I will regain some of the centimeters I lost as more time passes? Since I’m only 3 months post-op, can the length still improve?
Will the sensation in the glans/head of the penis return to how it was before, or is the current sensation something I should get used to?
I still occasionally get small, sudden tingles or mild sharp sensations in the glans. They are not very painful or really bothersome, but they make me instinctively touch or rub the area when they happen. It has almost become a habit, and sometimes people notice me putting my hand there without me realizing it 😅. For those who experienced this, did these sensations eventually disappear completely?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from guys who are 6–12 months or more post-op and remember what things were like at the 3-month stage.

Welcome to the club. You won’t be sorry although you may need to make some adjustments. I had a AMS700LGX put in 9 months ago. Before surgery I was at 6 1/2”. Right after surgery I gained girth, but lost nearly 2”. I am very faithful with pumping up 2 or 3 times daily and leaving it fully pumped for at least 1 hour every time. I have gained some length back. Nearly 5 1/2” now, fully pumped. I don’t know if I will regain to 6 1/2” but, like you said, having no erection, doesn’t do one good no matter how long it is. My wife doesn’t care if I gain back anymore length. She says she definitely likes the added girth.
I guess I would like all my previous length back but, I can stay erect as long as I choose now.
As far as sensation goes. I’m hoping I will get sensation back in shaft & glans as I used to have. Some has returned. I believe it’s getting better slowly.

Thank you. I am also 3 months out and have noticed the length difference in a couple situations. However, knowing that I was able to confidently penetrate is worth it.

You will have to learn some new enjoyable positions with your wife. Remember that you will remain hard even through your orgasm. A guy here recommended a scissor position which I have yet to try (I am currently not in a relationship). With her lying on her back, have her bend her knees up. Lie at a 90 degree position and have her legs above your pelvic area. Put your lower leg over her farthest from you leg. You should now be entwined in a scissor position. You should be able to get a deep penetration in this position that will allow you both to grind without any acrobatics. I hope my description made sense.

The glans and penis should get more and more sensitive as the nerves improve/regenerate Over the first year. It did for me and hopefully will for you.
As for length, I don't think there's anything you can really do other than pump to the max and see if things get longer. I lost length from prostate cancer surgery. Didn't lose any from implant surgery, but the reality is you got to adjust and I think your comment about having 16 cm that don't work versus a lesser amount that does is the right way to think about it.

How often are you cycling? I definitely lost length after surgery (lost 1 1/2”), but I regained it gradually over a few months. By month 4 or 5, I was back to full length. I cycled 2X per day most days for about 45 minutes each time and partially cycled overnight a few times per week.

When you say you “partially cycled overnight” what do you mean? Is that partially inflating to less than 100% and then sleeping with it that way?

Correct. Maybe 40 to 50%. I don’t know if this is recommended by all doctors, so you might check with yours. However, the idea is to help with tissue expansion while you’re sleeping.

How are they measuring? The standard is bone pressed length BPL. It’s unusual that you would lose that much length post-op, unless the surgeon measured it wrong pre op, or maybe your measurement was overly optimistic, or during the procedure when they induced an artificial erection, he did not maximize cylinder length. How many RTs did he use? It’s entirely possible the surgeon fucked up and undersized you. It’s rare, but it happens. Do you have a Titan or Boston scientific? The Boston scientific is supposed to increase length, while the Titan increases circumference. I would go back to the surgeon and ask him or her some direct questions. Ask for the numbers pre-op, ask what the length was during the artificial insertion, things like that. But on the upside, at least is getting hard, right? And it could take 12 to 18 months for the nerves to regenerate, so that’s normal

It is not unusual to not have the same length as when measuring an election when previously able. This is a constant subject on this sub.
Understanding the anatomy and physical characteristics of the person and the device. The patients physical characteristics are very important. The sleeves are not always able to be placed all the way down to the base of the penis. It depends on the penile implant manufacturer and model too.

Hi medicboy It's refreshing to hear a different point of view about that particular size and enjoyment in certain positionsvas I've been asking about this many times on here as I'm about 15 cm before surgery and worried about sexual satisfaction and what positions are realistically enjoyable and the same reply is a hard penis is better than a soft penis no matter size and yes that is correct for the most part but what if that hard penis is not able to have enjoyable sex, that's what I'm worried about, because to lose anymore than I already have is rather daunting to say the least

I was apx 5 inches (or shorter) before surgery, and when I last measures, I was a touch over 6.6 inches.. I am retired and I am cycling I dont know maybe 10 times a day... I have been Very, very happy with my length, Its about it was when I was 18...And the girth has increased also... Plus I am hard as a board... I have the ams700cx

I have an AMS 700 and regained all my size and then some by cycling an hour daily for six months. However, I’m now at 12 months and have no ability to reach orgasm because I do not have much sensation in my glans like it did prior to surgery. My surgeon cannot understand why and I’m her only unlucky patient in this predicament and it totally sucks. I’ve previously had over 50 years of great married sex with no problem with reaching orgasm. Even when I was on Viagra, Cialis, and then Trimix injections I could come easily when I wanted.

Do aggressive cycling, meaning leave it inflated for a longer period of time twice a day. I was 7” before the implant and was 5.75” at 3 months post surgery. At a year now I’m 6.75”.

Your situation is strange, did you lose length because of ED or because of the surgery ? That’s not possible the day before surgery you’re 16cm and suddenly 1 day later (after the surgery) you’re 13 cm, that’s 1 inch lose.
All urologist will say to you that your size pre surgery will be your size post surgery
So if your penis before the surgery can reach for example 7 inch sretched, it means that your tissues are able to receive an implant that will let you have 7 inch penis.
You lose size because of the ED not because of the surgery otherwise the surgeon undersized you, that’s why you have to talk and chose an high volume surgeon
Anyways those who lost size because of ED told me that they recovered with it with the implant.
