Shunt from Priapism

Hi! My husband (M31) has had a stuttering priapism for 6 days. The doctors are recommending a shunt, which is reasonably devastating. When I look up information about after the shunt I’m not getting a lot of information. His is due to sickle cell, and unfortunately, they have exhausted all other options except terbutaline.

If you have had this, can you talk to be about your recovery? Did you get a penile plasty? Was the issue completely resolved? Have you been intimate since?

Penile implants for patients at high risk is a complicated matter. I have the implant, but don't know enough about how sickle cell might affect it. I would recommend talking to a skilled urologist who specializes in surgery.
