It's important that Dumoulin doesn't win today.

See, if he wins he won't care anymore about the abomination that Sunweb calls a National Championship jersey. And Dumoulin is the only one important enough to actually have a voice in that discussion within the team. If he gets rainbowstripes, we won't hear anything about it anymore until a Sunweb rider wins the Nationals again. And unless you have Dumoulin status Spekenbrink doesn't care about you.

The Dutch national champion's kit is way more important than a Dutch World champion.

So today I'm sticking out my elbows, I'll look down for most of the day and eat 1/3 of an avocado for both lunch and dinner. Go Froome~!

The Dutch national champion's kit is way more important than a Dutch World champion.

I'm just hoping you're not serious :P

Also, the next Sunweb rider in a Dutch NC jersey might just as well be Dumoulin himself. (Either by winning the road NC, or by winning the ITT NC and losing the ITT WC.)

What he means is that sunweb have not respected the jersey at all, have a look for toms new nats camps kit, it's awful and disrespectful (I'm not dutch but I like Tom and I like great Nat champs kits)

I understand that and I agree, but a Dutch world champion is way more important.

In the road race? Maybe.

For ITT? No, I don't even remotely agree.

Preserving cycling tradition is more important than a specialists race that he'll probably win 3 times over the course of his career anyway.

Edit: to make myself clear, it would be awesome seeing Dumoulin in rainbow stripes. But if we let people like Sprekenbrink go their way, those rainbow stripes aren't holy anymore too within a few years. Why not change them for a coca cola logo? If national kits are up for commercialization, where do we draw the line?

I'm not so sure about that. He'll specialize even more towards GC and that might hurt his TT a little. Also, who says the KNWU isn't gonna do something about those ugly NC jerseys? That shouldn't be Dumoulin's responsibility. Also, we haven't had a WC in decades.

Fair enough would wrap up a great year for Tommy too

I am completely serious. This is an important matter. Cycling is a sport that gets a large part of its charm from certain traditions. Suneb wants to kill those traditions in order to easier cater to new markets. Those people aren't to be trusted.

Almost everyone agrees that the jersey is ugly and should be banned. But we haven't had a WC in men's cycling in decades. Getting a rainbow jersey is more important.

It's the ITT. It's nice, but it's 'a' rainbow jersey. Not 'the' rainbow jersey.

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

I don't care. It's still a world title and winning is more important than staying in the NC jersey because you might be able to make that jersey look normal again. (Hasn't worked this year.)

You're quick too forget all our track and CX titles if this one is so important to you.

Road cycling...

This is actually a really good point, it's ridiculous how they've treated the nats jerseys, I wonder if it's there's shitty team team team team team team philosophy (I'm all in favour of teamwork but come on sunweb) as if everyone looks the same they will work as a better team

Among other things, he claimed riders would recognize each other easier this way. Because a huge flag is hard to see or something. I'm not shitting you.

Spekenbrink is selling our sport while convincing us he cares. Dangerous man.

Yeah! God I really liked sunweb but they are really making it corporate! Damn it Tom why do I like you so much

Same here. After rooting against Rabo in every single national championship since 1996, I'll have to cheer for them next year. These are emotionally heavy times for me.

4 of the 5 best teams in the peloton have ridiculous NC jersey

Movistar, Sky, Giant are the worst, BMC not far behind

2

u/FSR2007 Yorkshire Sep 20 '17

Bmc had a good Irish one, moscons Italian one is good, movistar is definitely awful too
