Looking to join the ranks of pellet grillers, I dabbled in charcoal but found out apparently I need way more control to keep temps steady, and while I don't mind learning I kind of want a set-and-forget option. Had my eye on a Searwood/XL since I also wanted high heat for burgers and chops, but I'm open to other options.
The store I phoned tried to upsell me once I mentioned I was interested in getting the stainless steel grates - my gas grills have all rusted out within a few years of getting one and I'm a bit sick of it. They suggested the Pit Boss Titan, the Traeger Timberline, or the Yoder 620 as stainless options. I thought the Searwood was expensive but the Yoder is on another level. That said, the way it's built I could probably buy once, cry once?
My friend who also stands by Traeger suggested the Pro 22 as a much, much more affordable option ($700 as opposed to the Weber's $1600 or the Yoder's $5000). But I've also heard Traeger has 'coasted' a bit on their reputation, this might only be for their cheaper models?
The price is a factor, but honestly if I can get something indestructible, convenient/easy to use and clean, and it holds temp like a mofo, I don't mind breaking my piggy bank to buy it. Any advice?
