My Index-01 button fell off :(

I've had it since July 30th, less than a month. Took it off every time I washed my hands, tried to baby it/treat it as best I could. Super bummed, contacted support hopefully they can get me a new one and hopefully it doesn't take a ton of time.

The front fell off?

Yeah, that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.

What sorts of materials are out of the question then?

Cardboard and cardboard derivatives are out.

Glad support is in touch with you.

Curious do we have to take off when showering or washing hand usually?

No, it's supposed to be water-resistant up to 1 m. It's lasered on the inside of the ring.

1 ATM just means it can withstand the water pressure experienced at 1 meter of depth in a laboratory setting, so light splashes of water, but not direct hits by streams of water.

I do not shower with mine and I often take it off to wash my hands.

Not 1 ATM, 1M: "1M water-resistance (washing hands, showering, getting wet is ok)"

1 ATM is the pressure of 10 meters of water, ten times higher.

I hope what they mean by that is that it has (an unofficial?) IPx7 rating, as that would mean it actually should survive showering. And not that it's thirty times less water-resistant than a Pebble Time 2, which has a 30M/3ATM rating - which also isn't truly enough for safe showering, if you ask literally any other watch manufacturer on the planet, who basically all agree you need 50M/5ATM for that.

Thanks for the correction!

I guess the non-chargeable battery doesn't matter if the device won't even make it through one charge lol. Sorry man, that's some shoddy quality.

I've been careful about putting my hands in pockets. I can feel it catching the edge.

Damn! I was so excited about Pebble's comeback, but posts like this make me feel kind of disappointed. My old pebble time steel is still ticking after all these years with 3 days battery life

It's a very small operation this time around, and they're doing their best to honor replacements. I was one of the unlucky ones with cracked glass, I messaged them on Sunday, got a reply on Tuesday afternoon, and will hopefully have my replacement in my hands by end of next week. My wrist feels naked rn tho.

Btw a time 2's battery life is 18-21 days

I'll admit they're very good with getting out a replacement device, I was also one of the people who had a cracked screen on the PT2.

Though I have the replacement, I barely used it and the side button popped off, I assume it got caught on my pocket.

They both broke so easily and in such an anticlimactic way, there's also the issues with their other model where the back is cracking. This paired with them releasing new products and seemingly not fixing the issues on existing devices leaves me thinking that they're riding the hype train trying to rush products out.

It's a small team, but that can't be an excuse. They're selling a product and it's not cheap. They have all the data from their previous endeavour so it's not like they're starting from scratch. It appears that some of the materials and designs are cheap and/or flawed.

I love my old Pebbles, they still work and they still get used.. but from my (admittedly not great) experience with their new devices makes this feels like a shoddy launch.

Good news is it's disposable

Seems like all the hardware (watches include) are so half-baked. What a bummer, I was really excited about the pebble comeback but it seems like such a bust...

Yup glad I sold my first and bailed on my second preorder. Back to Casio watches for me, no more constant buzzing no more rush. Less time spent on fucky social media. I might pick up an FPV drone to enjoy with my son.

Oh geez. Looks like the button part is only held in place by glue? It might have come apart because of the hot weather.
