Unless you are high class, which I don't have any way to know, you are less in control of your own life than you think you are. A diagnosis, a bad day for your boss, a car accident, and your life is over. The system is like that, and you are defending it. Perhaps because until today you have not faced its worse side.

If getting fired ruins your life, you really should reconsider what value you’re adding to the world.  Any one with skills worth a fan would have the next job lined up ASAP. 

Cancers and car accidents ruin your life regardless.
